Lens Distortions® was founded in 2014 with a vision to create world-class creative assets that help brands and storytellers elevate their video content. Over the past decade, we've grown from a single niche product for video editors to a full SaaS platform of original music, sound effects, visual effects, and color presets. We’ve recently entered an exciting chapter of growth by venturing upmarket to focus on customers that can get the most value from the distinguished quality of our assets. Practically, this has looked like adding a B2B sales motion in parallel to our self-serve freelancer plans. As a bootstrapped small-but-mighty team based primarily in Omaha, we sell to companies and filmmakers all over the world, helping their most important content achieve maximum impact.
Role Description
As the first full-time marketing hire, you will be responsible for managing all marketing systems and projects within the company. A key focus will be on developing a robust inbound B2B funnel, driving leads and building nurturing systems that consistently turn those leads into “hand-raisers” who are ready to talk to sales. Your mandate is to grow sales pipeline so we can grow the sales team. Along with driving MQLs and nurturing MQLs into SQLs, you’ll be optimizing existing self-service funnels aimed at acquiring and retaining freelance subscribers. A background in demand generation, performance marketing, inbound marketing, or growth marketing is ideal for this role. Responsibilities include identifying promising market segments, building multi-channel campaigns, messaging and positioning, PPC ads strategy, conversion-rate optimization, email strategy (both funnels and one-offs), influencer and social proof strategy, and social media strategy. A big part of this will be overseeing content development that provides engaging substance to the aforementioned strategies, but it’s imperative that you have the system-building mindset to understand how content drives customer action. Ad collateral, sales collateral, email campaigns, social media, case studies, customer testimonials (written and video), influencer campaigns, and podcast content are examples of things you need to be comfortable taking from idea to done (either autonomously or by managing a collaborator). Since a key aspect of our product is original music, getting to market Lens Distortions almost like a band, through social media and Spotify, is a fun aspect for a SaaS company! Another fun aspect is that, while filmmakers are the direct users of our product, you’ll often also be marketing to fellow marketers who are the decision-makers on purchasing a solution like Lens Distortions for their in-house video editors. This role reports to the CEO, but will work closely with our sales director, creative director, CTO, and marketing contractors to ensure marketing strategies align with company-wide goals. This is a full-time hybrid role located in Omaha, NE. We’re a team of self-motivated doers who believe in the power of uninterrupted deep work, but also know that a balance of face-to-face time is important for camaraderie and alignment. The expectation is to meet up at the office 1-2 days per week with flexibility to work wherever you are most productive the rest of the time. We office out of the beautiful new Catalyst building in midtown and have been known to observe Taco Tuesday and drink delicious coffee in the Blackstone district. Qualifications
Understanding both sales-led growth and product-led growth is required. Experience building inbound B2B funnels is required. Experience building self-service funnels is required. Own buying journey from awareness to SQL or self-service purchase. Nurture customer retention and upselling. Intimate knowledge of marketing KPIs and managing initiatives based on them is required. Experience with Hubspot or similar CRM. Experience with Klaviyo or similar programmatic email tools. Experience with Meta ads, Google ads, LinkedIn Ads, etc. Experience with Figma or creating rough content mockups. Experience with WordPress or similar content platforms. Familiarity with sales strategies and their integration with marketing initiatives. Familiarity with video production or around video projects is advantageous. Familiarity with EOS management framework is a plus. Who Will Love This Role
The ideal candidate nerds out on the technical and mechanical aspects of building a "marketing machine," yet has an appreciation for the magic of a great brand and good aesthetics. Results are what you’ll be judged on, but tastefulness is a key value of our brand, so a growth-hacky “good enough” mentality won’t cut it. There will inevitably be fun and splashy one-off projects to fuel the brand fire, but we’re big on repeatable systems rather than non-scabable short-term triumphs. You don’t have to be an engineer, but you need enough technical thinking to architect how all the pieces of our marketing system fit together. Our CTO can help implement the most technical pieces but you’ll drive the strategy of what needs to be implemented. You don’t have to be a designer, but you need enough taste and confidence to put together first drafts of content ideas. Our creative director or a design contractor can help with a final pass to make sure everything is on-brand. You don’t have to be a journalist or video producer, but you need enough storytelling skills (interviewing, writing, etc) to ensure every content project can connect the dots between what’s meaningful to our prospects and the value Lens Distortions provides. Our CEO can help you dial in the exact wording to be on-brand. You don’t have to be a project manager, but you need enough discipline and attention to detail to hold yourself and collaborators accountable to getting projects done on time. This is not a “stay in your lane” role, but more of a “I’ll do it myself unless someone else on the team is clearly better suited to do it.” Every team member is motivated to help each other make this brand and product the best it can be, so cross-department collaboration is the norm. Over time, there is potential for this position to grow into a more senior, broader-focused marketing leadership role for the right person. Ultimately, the person who will love this role will have enough experience to be confident, enough confidence to solve problems they haven’t solved before, enough discipline to work autonomously without being micromanaged, enough relational skills to collaborate well, and enough of a life outside of work to stay balanced. If that sounds like you, we’d be delighted for you to apply so we can chat more! Salary and Benefits
Benefits: 401K with match, PTO, health insurance, dental insurance, and vision insurance
