Duties

You will serve as a nationally recognized technical authority on National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and Executive Order 12114.

You will advise employees on environmental issues to promote compliance with environmental protection procedures.

You will interpret federal, state, and local laws and regulations (e.g., Clean Water Act, Coastal Zone Management Act (CZMA), Endangered Species Act (ESA), Oil Pollution Act) to maintain compliance.

You will gather and analyze technical data and information in support of environmental programs (e.g., Project Design and Construction, NEPA, Water Quality, CZMA, ESA Pollution Prevention).

You will participate in meetings or public hearings regarding environmental protection matters.

You will interface with regulatory agencies, commands and tenants, and members of the private sector on the development of guidance and policies for environmental issues.

Requirements

Must be a US Citizen.

Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

This position is considered Key/Non-Combat Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support of the expeditionary requirements in other than combat or combat support situations.

This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
