is seeking an

Entry Level Interior Designer

to be based in

Roanoke, VA .

This position is expected to begin in Summer 2026.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Responsible for initiating and developing design and construction document drawings through completion for assigned projects in conformance with the requirements, applicable codes, and design criteria established by the project’s discipline leaders.

Under some supervision, may complete design assignments of moderate complexity.

Limited familiarity with codes, permits, and software applications related to the discipline.

Introduced to the process of preparing designs and drawings using project specifications and discipline-associated written and verbal instructions in accordance with established design practices, standards and procedures.

Intermediate understanding of the purpose and use of vendor documents.

Applies education, training and knowledge to perform typical assignments

Builds on foundational knowledge of theories, concepts and professional principles

May be part of a formal training program working towards professional certification

Receives direction and guidance on well-structured assignments for the purpose of development

Accountable for delivering clearly defined portions of a process or task for review by others

Impact of work is typically the employee's team or project team

Use standard procedures, protocols or techniques to resolve clearly defined problems, and elevate more complex issues

May provide feedback about existing procedures to make improvements

Shows interest in accepting new responsibilities

Exchanges information and builds relationships within own team and other internal project teams on routine matters

Interacts and exchanges information with colleagues

Contributes by solving straightforward problems and applying experience or theoretical knowledge to atypical assignments

Analyzes and solves typical issues with help from more senior staff as needed

Typically has a college degree or equivalent work experience that provides knowledge and exposure to fundamental theories, principles and concepts

Responsible for initiating and developing design and construction document drawings through completion for assigned projects in conformance with the requirements, applicable codes, and design criteria established by the project’s discipline leaders

Under direct supervision, completes design assignments of limited complexity

Applies a basic level of understanding within a specific discipline

Familiarity with codes, permits, and software applications related to the discipline

Familiar with the process of preparing designs and drawings using project specifications and discipline-associated written and verbal instructions in accordance with established design practices, standards, and procedures

Basic understanding of the purpose and use of vendor documents as reference for assigned tasks

Performs a self-check of work products prior to submitting to others

Works collaboratively with guidance on how to complete work activities that are unfamiliar

Work is regularly reviewed by supervisors and more senior team members

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Interior Architecture or related field.

Due to the nature of the work, U.S. Citizenship is required for this role.

Preferred Qualifications

Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.

Experience in project construction documentation using Revit.

Proficient in SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suites products, or other related graphic software.

Knowledge of project design and construction documentation and materials.

Ability to work on multiple, fast-paced projects.

Ability to follow directions and manage specific tasks to completion.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Portfolio submission required to demonstrate skill set.
