Basic Books Group, a division of Hachette Book Group, is seeking a

Marketing Manager

to join its New York–based team. Reporting to the Assistant Marketing Director, this individual will be responsible for creating and executing marketing campaigns for a wide range of nonfiction titles across six imprints: Basic Books, Basic Venture, Basic Liberty, PublicAffairs, Bullseye Books, and Seal Press. The ideal candidate will also lead our social media strategy and execution across all six imprints, overseeing platform activity on Instagram, TikTok, X, Facebook, BlueSky, and others. The successful candidate will be adaptable, collaborative, and highly communicative, with a strong grasp of digital trends and a commitment to driving continuous improvement in a deadline-driven, results-oriented environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Works closely with the Assistant Marketing Director, utilizing research and analytics to create, communicate, and implement marketing campaigns

Leads and manages social media strategy and execution across six imprints

Owns the social media calendar, including planning, scheduling, copywriting, and asset coordination

Plans and executes strategic, creative marketing campaigns for approximately 10–12 titles per season across six nonfiction imprints

Analyzes performance metrics and adapts marketing & social media strategies based on engagement, sales data, and emerging trends

Creates author meeting agendas; takes and shares minutes

Works with key stakeholders (author, agent, editorial, and publicity) during the planning phase to ensure cohesive, strategic, and creative marketing efforts

Assists in designing creative assets, including social graphics, Amazon A+, flyers, etc.

Supports direct-to-consumer initiatives, including newsletters, digital partnerships, and promotional content across channels

Supervises graphic design intern

Requirements

Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in book publishing, ideally within a marketing or digital communication role

Proven experience managing social media accounts and creating platform-specific content across Instagram, TikTok, X, Facebook, and other emerging platforms

Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Experience presenting in front of groups, including internal meetings and with outside clients

Demonstrated ability to deliver timely, accurate, and high-quality work in a deadline-driven and results-oriented environment

Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to multitask, manage shifting priorities, and meet overlapping deadlines with follow-through and attention to detail

Proficiency with Canva is a plus

Proficiency with WordPress is a plus

Proficiency with Klaviyo or other email clients is a plus

Compensation The compensation for this position is $63,000–$75,000. Salary can vary based on a number of factors including skills, experience, and location — talk with your recruiter to learn more.
