Job Summary

The Director, Land Transportation develops and drives execution of purchased transportation and freight brokerage strategies and oversees operations that support Over-the-Road (OTR), Intermodal, and third-party carrier services for House Hold Goods (HHG), Commercial, and Hawaii trade lane customers.

Primary Objectives • Develop and support strategies for centralized purchased transportation operations. • Direct management of U.S. transportation operations, dispatchers, carriers, IMC's, and drivers. • Build and oversee the brokerage department, including organizational design, systems and process

development, and day-to-day operational management. • Proactively identify, prevent, and resolve transportation, dispatch disruptions and operational complexities to

ensure customer requirements are met. • Manage, lead, and develop geographically dispersed management teams.

Duties and Responsibilities • Oversee and ensure effective management of the day to day activities of dispatch, transportation, and

brokerage teams responsible for all modes of transportation including Full Container Load (FCL), OTR and local,

drayage, rail operations and OTR/local trucking, including rail billing, track/trace, and service performance. • Develop and monitor compliance with effective track and trace procedures to include proactive communication

to Sales and other internal or external customers the status of booked loads. • Develop and implement transportation strategies to improve efficiency and reduce costs. • Develop and monitor compliance with standard operating procedures to ensure compliance with all

transportation regulations and safety standards. • Direct dispatch operations management teams to ensure optimal routing, scheduling, and cost effectiveness. • Direct the development and implementation of efficient brokerage dispatch, load board management, and

carrier compliance operational systems, processes, and standards. • Monitor dispatch schedules to ensure fulfillment of delivery deadlines. • Negotiate contracts and service agreements. • Oversee carrier vetting, contract negotiations, onboarding, and compliance monitoring. • Evaluate vendor performance and ensure service quality. • Collaborate with the sales and customer service teams to understand and meet client needs. • Utilize technology and data analysis to enhance transportation operations. • Develop and implement operational strategies to optimize freight costs within agreed service levels. • Develop and maintain effective professional relationships with vendors. • Communicate with vendors on invoice disputes and rate negotiations. • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field, or

equivalent combination of education and experience required

Licenses • Certified Transportation Professional (CTP) or Certified in Transportation and Logistics (CTL) preferred

Work Experience • 8+ years' experience in transportation management and/or dispatch operations required • 5+ years' in a supervisory/management role required • Experience managing owner-operator networks and contract service delivery models required

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities • In depth knowledge of business and management principles involved in purchased transportation and dispatch

operations. • Strong operational understanding of inter-modal rail operations and regulations. • Thorough knowledge of freight brokerage operations, carrier vetting, and owner-operator management. • Strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to motivate, influence performance, and lead by example. • Ability to set clear work policies and procedures, assess priorities, and communicate effectively to staff. • Strong verbal and written communication skills. • Strong financial acumen with the ability to manage budgets. • Ability to identify complex problems, use logic and reasoning to review related information, develop and

evaluate options, reach conclusions, and implement solutions. • Proficient in transportation management systems (TMS) and dispatch software. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite of tools.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities • Proficiency with Trinium and Truckmate TMS preferred
