Description of Duties:
SUNY ESF invites applications for the position of Director of Human Resources. The position serves as the Chief Human Resources Officer of the College and strategic partner to campus leadership. The Director provides leadership in the administration and development of campus-wide policies and procedures relating to human resource functions that provide a high level of customer service to the campus community. The Director contributes to the College's strategic planning goals including programs for ongoing improvement of faculty and staff. Functional areas under the Director's responsibility include employee relations, training and development, recruitment and employment, classification and compensation, payroll and employee benefits, performance management systems, data management, workers compensation and leave programs, ADA, New York State Ethics, and Immigration for employees. The College has approximately 500 State; and 150 State Graduate Assistants.
The Director is responsible for ensuring compliance with Federal and State regulations, SUNY, and New York State Civil Service policies and procedures. This role involves administration of union contracts and serves as President's designee for investigations, grievances, disciplines, and settlements and facilitates labor/management meetings and relations. The Director develops and coaches Department/Unit Heads and Supervisors to resolve employee issues. The Director works closely with College Counsel regarding legal issues related to employment. Additionally, the Director partners with the College's Chief Diversity Officer and Affirmative Action Officer on EEO/AA and Title IX issues and serves as the College's Title IX Coordinator.
Requirements:
Requirements Baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution Seven years of progressively responsible human resources administration experience Experience in interpreting and implementing the provisions in union contracts Excellent written and oral communication skills Proven record of successful interactions with a variety of constituents Preferred Requirements:
Master's degree from an accredited institution SUNY State-operated experience in Human Resources Higher education experience Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or SPHR (senior) certification
