Rochester, NY - $149,000 - $185,000

Job Summary:
The Director of Technical Systems is a leadership role responsible for driving the strategic delivery of digital products and solutions within Avangrid Networks. This position oversees portfolio and program management, user experience (UX), quality assurance, and change management under a unified delivery framework. The Director collaborates closely with IT, Processes & Technology, Networks Operations in the different OpCOs, and other business units to ensure solutions are user-centric, compliant, and aligned with organizational objectives to maximize business value.
Reporting to the Senior Director, Process & Systems within the Process and Technology (P&T) business area, this role serves as the business owner for enterprise asset management, scheduling, dispatching, and mobility solutions, ensuring operational excellence and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Vision: Provide strategic direction and guidance to cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of delivery excellence and innovation. Portfolio Management: Oversee the Networks portfolio of programs and projects, including prioritization of IT initiatives to maximize business value. Strategic Planning: Develop long-term strategies for process optimization and digital transformation aligned with organizational goals. Collaboration: Partner with IT and other departments (Process Improvements and Standardization, Electric and Gas Operations) to ensure seamless integration of processes and technology. Communication & Reporting: Maintain transparent communication with senior management and stakeholders; deliver regular updates on progress, risks, and achievements. User Experience: Lead the UX team to ensure solutions are accessible, consistent, and user-focused, promoting a design culture grounded in research and feedback. Change Management: Direct organizational change strategies to drive adoption of new processes and technologies. Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain a robust QA framework for testing and validating solutions. Regulatory Engagement: Participate in rate cases and respond to regulatory requests as needed. Access & Compliance: Manage access provisioning for Networks Applications and ensure adherence to the different controls. System Administration: Oversee SAP roles administration (creation, maintenance, testing, and control) and support applications used by Avangrid Networks business areas. Performance Monitoring: Track IT solution usage and compliance across business units. Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred. Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years in program/project/process management. Proven experience implementing delivery excellence frameworks, process improvements, and governance models. Strong understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum, SAFe, Kanban) and traditional project management approaches. Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary teams across UX, QA, and Change Management. Experience managing budgets, resource allocation, and prioritization of initiatives. Proficiency in analytics and reporting tools for KPI tracking and performance measurement.
