Cybersecurity Assessment Specialist
to support technical security evaluations across its branch office network. This role fills a current gap within the branch exam program, where non-technical examiners follow scripted assessments but need support identifying and clearly articulating cybersecurity risks.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a security background who has transitioned into auditing, assessments, or control validation. The role reports directly to the head of cybersecurity risk. Key Responsibilities
Conduct technical cybersecurity assessments across branch offices (primarily supporting Tier 1 advisors). Validate key security controls, including MFA, email encryption, IMAP/POP configurations, and WiFi security. Clearly explain risks and best practices to advisors and branch personnel, many of whom do not have technical backgrounds. Partner with branch exam staff during visits and support them in identifying technical gaps. Work independently in a lean, fast-moving environment and maintain strong organization and self-motivation. Ideal Candidate Profile
Background in cybersecurity with progression into technical auditing, controls assessment, or compliance-focused security work. Strong communication skills and the ability to explain risks in simple, clear, non-technical language. Personable and comfortable speaking directly with advisors and affiliated customer groups. Coachable, eager to learn, and able to adapt within a unique broker-dealer environment. Not a SOC analyst or deep technical engineer-this role focuses on validation and explanation of controls, not operations. Experience within a financial services, broker-dealer, or wealth management environment is strongly preferred.
