Job Summary Lead a diverse portfolio of hardware, software, and sustaining programs that support a strategic business line. Provide direct supervision to program and project managers, ensuring alignment with business objectives. Collaborate cross‑functionally with R&D, marketing, quality, operations, and executive leadership to drive strategic planning and execution. Forecast portfolio performance and recommend adjustments to programs or organizational structures to meet business goals. Serve as a key integrator across functions, resolving complex challenges beyond portfolio boundaries, with authority to act within company and divisional policy.
Responsibilities
Program Leadership: Provide strategic oversight across R&D programs, aligning execution with business goals and driving cross‑functional team performance.
Project Planning & Execution: Direct integrated planning, scheduling, and resource allocation to ensure timely delivery of high‑impact initiatives.
Agile & Design Control: Champion Agile practices where appropriate and ensure compliance with design control standards.
Risk & Issue Management: Lead proactive risk identification and resolution strategies, addressing systemic challenges and ensuring portfolio stability.
Executive Communication: Deliver clear, strategic updates to senior leadership on portfolio status, risks, and alignment with business objectives.
Vendor Management: Oversee selection and performance of strategic partners, ensuring alignment with scope, timelines, and quality standards.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Facilitate alignment across departments to support product launches and change initiatives, ensuring organizational readiness.
Resource Optimization: Strategically manage equipment, materials, and shared resources to support current and future program needs.
Talent Development: Mentor and coach program managers and project leaders, fostering a high‑performance culture and supporting career growth.
Strategic Innovation: Contribute to long‑range planning and innovation, identifying emerging technologies and opportunities for business growth.
Budget Management: Prepares and maintains budgets for the portfolio of programs and projects.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications Education:
BS in STEM field (engineering, chemistry, physics, etc.), MS/MBA preferred.
Additional coursework in accounting, business economics, strategy development, resource management and project management is desired.
Experience:
Minimum of 15 years of professional experience, with at least 11 years in technical leadership, project coordination, or project management—preferably within product development.
Strong understanding of the full product life‑cycle, from concept through manufacturing introduction.
Portfolio management certification is preferred.
Management has the discretion of substituting relevant work experience for a degree and/or making exceptions to the years of experience requirement.
