Overview The Work As a Bilingual Portuguese Translator, you will play a crucial role in bridging communication gaps for individuals facing language barriers. Your translation expertise will cover various fields, including Education, Legal, Medical, Environmental, and Social Services, among others. This position operates in alignment with the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Cayuse. Responsibilities Key Responsibilities: Provide precise translations for lectures, conversations, meetings, and legal or medical scenarios.

Ensure compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) when working within healthcare environments.

Adhere to client protocols and maintain the standards set forth by the American Translators Association Code of Ethics.

Deliver translations that are complete and accurate, refraining from altering, omitting, or adding any content, and without personal commentary.

Demonstrate cultural sensitivity to both the source and target languages during translation processes.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications Qualifications - Here's What You Need: High School diploma or equivalent work experience.

At least 2 years of relevant experience.

Certification as a Translation Professional.

Valid Translation Certifications.

Certification from a prior agency or accreditation from a recognized translation program.

Fluency in English and Portuguese is mandatory.

Ability to pass a background check, with potential for additional checks as needed for various projects.

Minimum Skills Required: Ability to conduct translation with discretion and impartiality.

Strong proficiency in written communication.

Broad knowledge base across various topics.

Cultural awareness for conducting translations across different regions.

Effective problem-solving abilities.

Proficient with Microsoft and Adobe applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Acrobat.

Highly self-motivated and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.

A self-starter who can work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.

For Medical Translation: Must hold a medical interpreter certificate recognized by the Certification Commission of Healthcare Interpreters or the National Certification for Medical Interpreters.

2 years of experience in Legal translation.

2 years of experience in Medical translation.

American Translators Association Certification.

Certified court translator.

Reports to:

Deputy Program Manager Working Conditions: Professional remote work environment.

Willingness to be on-call, with potential job notifications provided within 48 hours.

Must be able to perform duties for extended periods, both physically and mentally.

Able to operate a computer and office productivity tools swiftly to meet job demands.

Establish and maintain a professional and productive workspace.

Capability to sit for long durations while engaged with a computer screen.

Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including possible holidays if required.

Availability to work outside of regular business hours as needed.
