Join our dedicated team as a Crop Claims Field Adjuster Level I with Zurich's Rural Community Insurance Services (RCIS). We have been at the forefront of crop insurance since the industry was privatized by the federal government in 1980, providing crucial support to farmers and ranchers across the United States.
This position is based in Minnesota, allowing you to work from a home office while covering a designated travel territory. You will work approximately 40 hours a week, with around 50% travel required.
The ideal candidate will ideally reside within a 50-to-60-mile radius of:
Brown, Watonwan, Blue Earth, Waseca, Rice, Le Sueur, Nicollet, Sibley, Scott, Carver, McLeod, Meeker, and/or Wright Counties.
As a Crop Claims Field Adjuster, you will:
Conduct field inspections with minimal supervision, utilizing maps and aerial photographs to assess crop loss, and engaging with farmers on complex claims.
Clearly communicate detailed regulations and interpretations to claimants and industry professionals regarding claims practices.
Perform thorough fact-finding regarding crop damage, accurately recording findings to calculate potential indemnities.
Gather essential facts while applying relevant laws to establish basic principles of negligence.
Conduct claim reviews and audits for junior adjusters as assigned, contributing to their development.
Maintain compliance with legal standards by understanding and adhering to company policies and procedures.
Assist team projects and contribute towards achieving collective goals.
Basic Qualifications:
High School Diploma or Equivalent with at least 6 months of experience in the agricultural field.
Must obtain Crop Adjuster Proficiency Program Certification (CAPP) within 180 days from your hire date.
Must have reliable transportation to travel within the assigned territory.
Valid Driver's License required.
Physical requirements include the ability to walk up to 3 miles in agricultural fields, climb storage bins up to 25 feet, lift 25 to 50 lbs, and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications:
Outstanding verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong organizational and prioritization abilities.
Experience as a Crop Claims Field Adjuster.
Competence in Microsoft Office applications.
Your compensation at Zurich is competitive and commensurate with your role, experience, and location. The salary range for this position is $22.40 - $30.86, plus a potential short-term incentive bonus of 5%.
