Job Description
DEFINITION Under general supervision coordinates, supervises, and implements nutrition education and promotions; designs, develops, and analyzes menus, recipes, and food product specification; writes and manages government funded grants; and provides technical guidance in the field of nutrition.

- Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Develops, implements, administers, and reviews nutrition education programs and promotions. Ensures meals are provided to children with special dietary needs, including food allergies and medical conditions. Provides nutritional education and training to faculty, students, and nutrition services staff. Assists in implementing new menus and food services to include promotional program education emphasis. Collaborates with department management to develop and implement district-wide nutritional programs. Develops and plans menus; conducts research and analyze data regarding nutritional adequacy and assures compliance with government regulations. Recommends, establishes, and implements changes of specifications and quality control procedures used to test new foods and related products. Develops and facilitates nutrition surveys and needs assessments to assist menu design and planning. Composes reports and publications that are provided to District personnel, students and parents. Plans and writes grants and accounts for grant expenditures and allowable use of state and federal grant funds. Assigns, oversees, and reviews university student dietetic intern's work experience projects. Serves as District nutrition liaison and technical expert with other District departments and entities. May represent Nutrition Services at meetings as required. Performs related duties as required. Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS Experience and Education/Training Any combination of experience and education/training that demonstrates an ability to perform the essential functions of the job. (These are the minimum experience and education/training standards that will be used to admit or reject applicants for examination, as approved on the date below.) Three years of increasingly responsible technical experience in the field of nutrition, including responsibilities involving nutritional and feeding programs for children. A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in nutrition, food science, public health, education or a related field.
Licenses/Certificates/Probationary Period Active status as a Registered Dietician at time of appointment to and during employment in this class. Possession of an appropriate, valid California driver's license, liability auto insurance, personal vehicle for transportation to sites/meetings, must be presented/available upon acceptance of offer of employment and maintained throughout employment. Persons appointed to this class are subject to a probationary period of 130 days in accordance with Education Code 45301.
