Job Description Work Classification: Hybrid:

This role is categorized as hybrid. The successful candidate is expected to report to the office in Austin, Texas or Warren, MI a minimum of three times per week. The Role: As a Lead Database Administrator at GM, you will play a critical role in upholding, educating, and enforcing Database Standards, Practices & Policies to ensure effective database management systems implementations. You will communicate, develop, validate, and implement requirements from IT Partners supporting database management systems. What You'll Do: Prepare for and assist, or lead analysis to support decision-making processes of senior staff or IT partners.

Execute assigned tasks according to established procedures, policies, and processes.

Maintain comprehensive documentation supporting change control, business continuity, and Database system sustainment, while ensuring peer compliance and quality.

Develop and lead implementations of solutions addressing complex Database Management issues.

Collaborate effectively with peers and IT Partners on assigned duties.

Mentor entry-level and intermediate Database professionals.

Lead the implementation and support of long-term technology strategies.

Be accountable for the accuracy and validity of solution design and documentation.

Participate in on-call rotations or shift work as required by specific role or assignment.

Demonstrate accountability for GM's values and culture and model behaviors that contribute to a winning team environment.

Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications): A minimum of 5 years of experience with Oracle (11g to 19c) and PostgreSQL.

5+ years of experience utilizing Microsoft Azure.

Proven hands-on experience in migrating databases from Oracle to PostgreSQL.

Experience providing on-call support and leading P1 (Priority 1) incident management calls.

Engagement in problem management and root cause analysis discussions.

Experience in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.

Able to manage urgent tasks and requests from leadership effectively.

Availability for scheduled weekend database upgrades and maintenance activities.

Advanced knowledge of Enterprise RDBMS Technologies, architecture, implementation, and support.

Operational expertise in Enterprise RDBMS deployments.

Familiarity with at least two IT technology domains such as data management, infrastructure, storage, and security technologies.

Preferred advanced knowledge of data replication and disaster recovery capabilities.

In-depth understanding of Backup & Recovery techniques and technologies.

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications): 8+ years of experience with Oracle (11g to 19c) and PostgreSQL.

8+ years of experience with Microsoft Azure.

5+ years of experience with SQL Server.

5+ years of experience with AWS and GCP.
