Role Summary

The Executive Director, Drug Development AI-Enablement will lead the development and execution of a Digital, Technology, AI and Innovation Strategy for Drug Development that delivers measurable portfolio value by accelerating timelines, enhancing innovation and decision-making quality, and reducing cost. This role will bridge IT technology experts and drug development process experts to transform drug development through AI-enabled redesign of processes, roles, and tools.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the execution of strategic projects and programs to ensure alignment with defined business outcomes, financial objectives, and operational priorities.
  • Applies standardized project management practices, including methodologies, tools, and governance models, to promote consistency, transparency, and accountability.
  • Coordinates cross-functional delivery by managing resources, timelines, budgets, and risk mitigation strategies from initiation through completion.
  • Establishes and tracks performance indicators and quality benchmarks to support data-informed decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Identifies, evaluates, and integrates emerging tools and methodologies to enhance delivery efficiency and execution maturity.
  • Develops and supports high-performing teams by fostering skill growth, leadership readiness, and alignment with long-term strategic goals.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a global biopharmaceutical environment
  • Proven track record of leading strategy and execution of a technology-enabled transformation
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including strategic cross-functional relationship building, project management, and the ability to influence decisions across all stakeholders including senior leadership and matrix teams
  • In-depth understanding of the pharmaceutical value chain, including R&D, regulatory requirements, knowledge of the competitive landscape, and market dynamics

Education

  • Degree in Life Sciences or Business Management, and/or advanced degree in related discipline preferred (e.g., MBA, MS, MD, PhD, Pharm D)
