
Role Summary
Director of Animal Production drives strategic growth of VelociGene’s genetically engineered mouse (rodent) models (GEMM), overseeing R&D portfolio support across departments. The role leads operations of major significance to the organization involving GEMM and supervises a large, high-performing team to advance Regeneron’s R&D objectives and accelerate GEM model development.
Responsibilities
- Drive operational strategy for model development, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and scientific rigor
- Manage cross-functional collaborations to optimize timelines and resource allocation for GEM model delivery
- Implement standardized processes and quality controls to enhance reproducibility and reliability across all operations
- Champion continuous improvement and innovation, fostering a culture of accountability and adaptability
- Develop and mentor team members, building leadership capability and sustaining high performance
- Ensure effective communication and alignment across departments to support strategic objectives and organizational goals
- Supervise managers and optimize their plans, policies, and objectives, while monitoring performance against goals
- Interact internally and externally with executive-level management
- Develop and maintain relationships with cross-departmental and functional stakeholders to ensure all operations are aligned with departmental and R&D initiatives
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor's degree with 15+ years of professional experience; experience leading a diverse multi-level team of at least 25 individuals; background in vivarium operations, molecular biology, GEM model generation, and application of data systems to a GEM model pipeline
- Preferred: MS or PhD or equivalent; demonstrated publication or patent records
