Overview

An extension of Gallagher’s regional and national management team with local authority, the Area President will oversee all strategic and tactical operations functions of the Albany branch. This leadership position will extend to implementing business strategies, developing, and achieving sales goals, investing in key talent, driving and communicating financial goals, and achieving operational excellence. Gallagher’s culture is founded upon an unwavering commitment to ethical business practices. As a prominent face of Gallagher in the Iowa market, the Area President must champion the tenets of The Gallagher Way.

Cultural Leader

  • Create and foster an environment of teamwork, collaboration, excellence and positivity.

Strategic Planning

  • Develop and execute annual and three-year business plans in alignment with the Dominant Priority Process for the branch.
  • Facilitate annual strategic planning meetings with key personnel to ensure team alignment with the overall plan.
  • Regularly assess progress against branch dominant priorities and make necessary adjustments.

Sales Management

  • Provide leadership in both strategic and day-to-day sales management to drive organic growth.
  • Ensure producers have clear goals and business plans, and monitor performance against standards.
  • Conduct effective Producer 1:1s to drive growth.
  • Develop the skills of sales leaders and producers using Gallagher tools and resources.
  • Lead New Business Meetings, Town Hall, and Account Team Renewal Meetings.
  • Align the branch and individual producers with target niches and cross-sell opportunities.
  • Provide leadership and accountability for sales and marketing initiatives, including support for critical tools like Salesforce.com.
  • Attend and contribute to large new business opportunities and engage with our largest clients to ensure branch leadership is engaged.

External Growth

  • Lead the branch in areas of external growth, including identifying potential merger and acquisition partners.
  • Identify and recruit new producer hires and pursue profitable book purchase opportunities.

Client Relations

  • Maintain ongoing relationships with top-level decision-makers of major clients in the branch.
  • Follow divisional protocol for formal stewardship actions required by Branch Managers.
  • Implement a thoughtful stewardship strategy across each producer’s book.
  • Support producers and client service teams in handling difficult client issues and claims management.

Market Relations

  • Cultivate and expand top-level market contacts locally for the benefit of the branch.
  • Develop a strategy to strengthen market relations that align with our clients’ needs.
  • Negotiate favorable profit-sharing agreements, where applicable.
  • Provide leadership in marketing initiatives to achieve program goals such as SmartMarket, Client Advantage, Commission Adequacy, and Wholesaler Consolidation.

Financial Performance

  • Lead the branch in developing operating budgets that meet annual and long-term company goals for sales growth, business development, expense control, and pre-tax profit growth.
  • Manage P&Ls to ensure achievement of budgeting and sales forecasting commitments.
  • Conduct monthly financial review sessions with branch units to identify opportunities, risks, and mid-term adjustments.

People Management & Development

  • Focus on people development and foster a positive work environment at Gallagher.
  • Continuously source and recruit top talent.
  • Develop succession plans for critical roles.
  • Foster the growth of key talent and manage underperformers through performance management.
  • Drive engagement and maintain open and honest communications.
  • Conduct quality and timely PDC (Performance Development and Coaching) reviews.
  • Utilize compensation effectively to recognize and reward high-performing employees.

Gallagher Leadership

  • Serve as the prominent figurehead for GGB in the New York Capital Region, upholding the highest integrity and actively supporting company initiatives.
  • Drive needed change through effective communication and promote the adoption of company-wide initiatives in the branch.

  • Proven ability to effectively balance multiple priorities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills exhibited during interpersonal interactions, presentations, and written communications.
  • Consistent demonstration of exceptional business acumen and functional knowledge of Property Casualty Insurance and all elements of the Core360 value proposition.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 7+ years’ leadership experience in insurance or brokerage.

We offer a competitive and comprehensive compensation package. The base salary range represents the anticipated low end and high end of the range for this position. The actual compensation will be influenced by a wide range of factors including, but not limited to previous experience, education, pay market/geography, complexity or scope, specialized skill set, lines of business/practice area, supply/demand, and scheduled hours.
