Position Summary
The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) program is specifically designed to meet the needs of Scientific and Clinical Experts (SEs/CEs) in a therapeutic area, providing cutting‑edge information and facilitating scientific exchange between industry and the scientific community. The MSL for East and South Texas will engage with SEs/CEs across Houston, Austin, San Antonio, the Texas border with Mexico, and major Texas Gulf Coast cities.
Responsibilities
- Engage in continuous learning to maintain the highest level of technical expertise and act as a reliable, unbiased source of medical and scientific information.
- Spend the majority of time on customer‑facing activities, using emotional intelligence and strategic thinking to deliver a positive customer experience.
- Connect SEs/CEs with Lilly resources or internal business partners and facilitate collaborative research and external opportunities.
- Demonstrate strategic analysis, planning, and prioritization to maximize efficiency in territory management and coordinate with other field roles.
- Synthesize and communicate actionable customer/clinical insights to internal Lilly medical and cross‑functional teams, escalating issues as appropriate and exercising good judgment.
- Consistently demonstrate the Team Lilly Behaviors: Include, Innovate, Accelerate, and Deliver.
- Execute the role in a compliant manner, adhering to all governing internal and external requirements, procedures, and laws.
Minimum Requirements
- Advanced degree in health sciences (e.g., PharmD, MD, PhD) with 2–3 years of relevant clinical or therapeutic area experience, OR
- Master’s or bachelor’s degree in health sciences (e.g., BSN, RPh, PA, NP) with 5+ years of clinical, research, or industry experience in a relevant therapeutic area.
- Authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis; U.S. driver’s license required.
Other Information / Additional Preferences
- Field‑based position requiring up to 80% travel and 4–6 weekends per year.
- Home‑base location in the Houston, TX metro area.
- Live in close proximity to a transport hub (airport or train station).
- Intellectual curiosity and learning agility to comprehend and communicate complex scientific content.
- Self‑directed, able to work alone in the field while managing multiple priorities.
- Advanced presentation and computer skills with expertise in literature identification.
- Strategic and critical thinking to analyze, assess, and evaluate information.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with field‑based electronic or other communication tools.
- Resiliency in managing complex challenges.
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, high emotional intelligence, and networking ability.
- Experience servicing customer needs for complex information and facilitating professional networking.
- Dermatology therapeutic area experience strongly preferred.

Compensation and Benefits
Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is $151,500 – $244,200. Full‑time employees will also be eligible for a company bonus (depending on company and individual performance).
