AVA Energy is partnered with an established player in the Energy space as they search for a Director to join their Power Market Fundamentals team. The successful candidate will have experience with power market fundamentals in the context of North American markets, alongside proven leadership experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing activities across power market fundamentals, commercial analytics and production cost modeling.
  • Managing a team of analysts, providing leadership, direction and accountability to the whole team.
  • Responsible for electricity market modeling and price forecasts across North America.
  • Conduct thorough analysis of model outputs to ensure process quality.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the impact of Energy Policy & Regulatory Affairs.
  • Ability to leverage the results of the fundamental price forecast and succinctly present these findings to internal and external stakeholders, to guide strategic and commercial decisions.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent understanding of power market fundamentals with at least 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven track-record managing a team in the Power Market Fundamentals space and delivering exceptional results.
  • Experience in production cost modeling (e.g., PLEXOS, PROMOD, Aurora, EnCompass etc.) is required.
  • Strong understanding of market trends in conventional generation, renewables, energy storage, distributed generation, and transmission development.
  • Master's degree in an analytical/numerical subject - Engineering, Mathematics, Economics etc.
  • Proven ability to perform in high visibility, high growth environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
