Acumatica is seeking a
Functional Consultant
who will serve as a business process expert, responsible for translating customers’ operational and strategic requirements into tailored Acumatica solutions. This role focuses on identifying and addressing gaps between customers’ specific business needs and Acumatica’s standard, out-of-the-box functionality. The Functional Consultant will operate as a key liaison between business stakeholders and the technical team (Developers, Business Analysts), overseeing the full lifecycle of Acumatica customizations—from requirements gathering and analysis through solution design, configuration, testing, delivery, and post-implementation support. Responsibilities
ERP Functional Analysis
— Work with customers to understand current business processes across all Acumatica modules; analyze and map customer processes to standard Acumatica functionality and best practices; identify process gaps, risks, and opportunities for optimization; apply standard ERP logic to propose best-practice solutions and process improvements; leverage knowledge from previous implementations to solve new business cases efficiently; prepare and deliver user training, reference guides, and process documentation on custom solutions; troubleshoot functional issues, perform root-cause analysis, and propose corrective actions. Requirements Gathering & Documentation
— Conduct workshops and interviews with business users to gather requirements for new features and customizations; document functional requirements, use cases, and process flows clearly and comprehensively; create functional requirement documents for integrations, reports, and customizations to guide technical teams. Solution Design & Configuration
— Design custom Acumatica-based solutions that address customer requirements that may use: Design custom Acumatica-based solutions that address customer requirements that may use: Out-of-the-box features and configuration Custom solutions designed specifically for Customer’s requirements Generic Inquiries, reports, and dashboards Business events and automation Financial reporting tools Import/export scenarios Collaborate with technical teams to design and validate customizations (screens, logic, integrations). Collaborate with Product Managers to share custom requirements to understand whether features can be included in the product Reporting, Inquiries & Automation
— Gather requirements, build and maintain: Reports and Generic Inquiries for analysis, reporting, and integrations; Operational and financial reports (including ARM/financial statements); Business events, notifications, and approval workflows; Ensure reporting and automation align with customer KPIs and compliance requirements. Integration & Technical Collaboration
— Work with APIs and integration tools to support data exchange between Acumatica and external systems; Define and validate data mapping for integrations and import/export scenarios; Communicate effectively with developers using technical terminology (DACs, endpoints, REST APIs, JSON/XML, etc.). Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Technology, Accounting or a related field of study. Experience with ERP/ software in a SaaS environment Minimum of 3+ years of experience as a Functional Consultant handling at least 5 – 8 customization projects. Experience in gathering and documenting Customization requirements, any functional specification that can be provided, will be a plus. Experience with working with APIs. Knowledge of reporting tools including financial reporting. Understanding of common industry standard business practices as related to Accounting (Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Invoicing), Sales Management (Opportunity, Proposal, Sales Orders, Forecasting, territory management and Quotas), Inventory Management, Purchasing and Fulfillment. Understanding of any other vertical industry (Manufacturing, Construction, Field Services) will be a plus. Strong organizational and time management skills and the ability to balance a large group of diverse projects simultaneously with excellent attention to detail. Ability to resolve complex problems positively and professionally. Excellent interpersonal, decision-making, and analytical abilities. Experience with Microsoft SQL Basic understanding of relational database concepts Ability to take direction, as well as work autonomously Attend internal team meetings, participate in knowledge sharing, mentoring, and Q&A.
