Role Overview The Social Media Assistant plays a hands-on role in bringing our clients’ social media accounts to life. This role is primarily focused on community management —engaging with audiences through comments and DMs— while also supporting content publishing and day-to-day social execution.

You’ll work closely with Social Media Managers and the creative team to make sure brand channels feel active, responsive, and genuinely human. This is a great role for someone who’s chronically online (in a good way), has strong instincts for tone and timing, and wants to build a career in social media and marketing.

What You’ll Be Responsible For: Community Management (Your Main Focus)

Respond to comments and DMs in a timely, thoughtful, and on-brand way

Keep an eye on conversations and flag anything that feels sensitive, confusing, or worth escalating

Proactively engage with relevant accounts, creators, and community members (likes, comments, replies, follows)

Help brands feel approachable, responsive, and worth engaging with

Content Publishing & Support

Support the scheduling and publishing of approved content across platforms like Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and others

Double-check captions, tags, handles, links, and formatting before content goes live

Assist with organizing content assets and keeping platforms running smoothly

Reporting, Insights & Organization

Track basic engagement metrics and community insights

Surface recurring questions, audience feedback, or content opportunities to the team

Help keep social calendars, workflows, and files organized and up to date

Team Support

Support Social Media Managers with day-to-day tasks and special projects

Collaborate with internal teammates to keep things moving efficiently

Stay curious and up to date on social trends, platform updates, and best practices

Comments and DMs are handled promptly, professionally, and on-brand

Content is published accurately and on time

Social Media Managers feel supported and confident in day-to-day execution

Skills & Attributes

You genuinely love social media and internet culture

You have strong written communication skills and a great eye for detail

You’re organized, reliable, and good at following processes

You know how to read the room and match a brand’s tone

You’re proactive, curious, and not afraid to ask questions

You work well with a team and are open to feedback

Experience & Qualifications

1 year of experience supporting social media accounts, community management, or digital marketing (agency experience is a plus)

Familiarity with platforms like Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and others

Basic understanding of brand voice, tone, and audience engagement

Experience with social media management tools (Sprout Social, Hootsuite, HeyOrca, etc.) is a plus

Experience with project management tools (Asana, Slack, etc.) is a plus

Education may include a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.

Other Requirements: All applicants must read, write, and speak the following languages: English

Ability to commute to Santa Monica, CA, at least once per week
