Property Standards Inspector, Property Standards Specialist, or Senior Property Standards Specialist – City of Plano.

This role enforces municipal codes, conducts property inspections, and works directly with residents and property owners to improve neighborhood standards. Responsibilities
Enforce municipal codes and conduct property inspections to uphold standards.
Interact with residents and property owners to improve neighborhood conditions.
Perform investigations, including entries into structures, and assess conditions that may be hazardous or unsanitary.
Use effective communication to de-escalate conflict in a highly contentious environment.
Work Schedule & Requirements
Three shifts available: 7:30 – 4:30, 8:00 – 5:00, and 8:30 – 5:30. New employees may train on the trainer’s schedule. Tenured staff may receive preferred shifts.
Required to work six Saturdays per year, with schedule flex during “Saturday Sweeps” (½ or full day on Saturday).
Occasional after-hours inspections to observe violations outside regular business hours.
Pay equity: new employees are typically offered pay within the range of existing staff with similar experience and certifications.
Role may require entering structures with hazardous or unsanitary conditions and applying de-escalation communication skills in the field.
Compensation
Property Standards Inspector: $25.21 – $31.51 per hour
Property Standards Specialist: $26.47 – $33.09 per hour
Senior Property Standards Specialist: $29.18 – $36.48 per hour
