Role Sales Manager – Grocery Independents

Responsibilities

Work collaboratively with the National Grocery Sales team to develop a sales strategy designed to prospect & build customers within independent and small conventional grocery accounts across the US region

Optimize relationships with new partners to promote best-in-category opportunities - pricing and promotions, POS and in-store campaigns, SKU mix, shelf placement, etc.

Develop trade promotional and marketing plans to build and support account velocities

Leverage network of brokers & distributors - UNFI and Kehe, and other smaller distributors – to find new business opportunities and grow current core items

Aggressively chase new business by prospecting, networking, and leveraging market research to secure new accounts and expand independent grocery channel

Achieve assigned quarterly and annual sales goals; update and communicate progress to management. Sales targets are aggressive, and the team moves at a fast pace

Build out and maintain territory plans, including identification of top targets/accounts and sales strategies

Develops an effective trade show/event strategy to ensure strong lead-generating results.

Travel regularly to meet with customers and attend trade shows

Continuously monitor key market trends and share valuable insights with the region and leadership team

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business or equivalent Sales Manager experience required

At least 3 years of experience in wholesale sales including grocery accounts and distributors (CPG experience preferred)

Growth mindset with the ability to chase leads and drive sales aggressively

Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills

Experience with sales forecasting, lead generation and CRM tools

Willingness to travel 40-60% of the time to grow new business
