Job Description
The Well Management Engineer – RTP & PA is responsible for planning, designing, and providing engineering execution support for post-completion wellwork operations, including remedial workovers and plug and abandonment activities. This role supports safe, efficient, and cost-effective execution of wellwork programs while collaborating closely with operations, production engineering, and external service providers. The position is full-time, on-site, and suited for a mid- to senior-level engineer with strong hands-on wellwork experience.
Responsibilities
Design, plan, and provide engineering execution support for post-completion wellwork operations, including remedial workovers and plug and abandonment activities
Coordinate with Production Engineering to develop cost estimates and scopes of work for opportunity evaluation
Develop procedures and provide engineering design input related to artificial lift systems
Interface with Operations teams to support rig scheduling, execution readiness, and troubleshooting
Coordinate with contractors and equipment suppliers to ensure cost control, equipment availability, and operational readiness
Monitor daily wellwork operations, track costs, and recommend cost-effective operational adjustments
Travel to field locations as required to oversee execution and support operational decision-making
Support wellwork spend forecasting and budget preparation
Track, analyze, and continuously improve wellwork execution efficiency
Manage contractor performance and ensure alignment with operational objectives
Maintain and steward well data to ensure accuracy and quality within operational systems
Skills and Qualifications Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited university
Minimum of 5 years of oil and gas industry experience
At least 3 years of direct wellwork experience; Permian Basin experience preferred
Demonstrated hands-on experience with workover, remedial, and completion-related wellwork operations
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
Self-motivated with the ability to integrate effectively within multi-disciplinary teams
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, operations-driven environment
Willingness to travel to field locations as required
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Experience using Wellview or similar well data management systems
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience working in an operator-side engineering role
Strong background in workover and completion operations rather than drilling or hydraulic fracturing
Exposure to data analytics and visualization tools such as Spotfire, Power BI, or similar platforms
Job Details Pay: $120/per hour
