Responsibilities Contribute to the development and execution of GU-Q’s social media strategy, including platform-specific approaches and a coordinated content calendar aligned to organizational goals.
Lead the ideation, briefing, and delivery of high-quality, on-brand social media content by partnering with creative teams and collaborating across departments.
Oversee the day-to-day management of social media accounts, ensuring consistent, engaging, and timely content that reflects brand tone, values, and audience expectations.
Develop platform-specific and publishing strategies across digital and social channels.
Develop, write and edit briefs and partner with creative teams to produce relevant, impactful content published on GU-Q social media platforms.
Manage the day-to-day running of GU-Q’s social media accounts, ensuring high quality, compelling content is produced and disseminated.
Collaborate cross-functionally to ideate and develop innovative, engaging concepts that align with brand guidelines while meeting creative and strategic objectives.
Maintain an up-to-date understanding of latest platform updates, algorithms and metrics, focusing on opportunities for innovation to match latest audience usage.
Identify emerging social media trends and transform them into actionable opportunities for campaigns and creative briefs.
Integrate cultural, political, education-sector, and pop-culture trends into day-to-day and output.
Bring strong enthusiasm for social media, inspiring and educating the team with relevant insights.
Build and manage clear project plans that outline responsibilities across creative, media, production, and client teams.
Develop and maintain project artifacts (timelines, workflows, task sheets) to ensure transparency and alignment.
Proactively identify risks or roadblocks and escalate them with constructive solutions and mitigation options.
Collaborate with the Associate Director for Marketing to better understand audience behaviors, to uncover insights and cultural trends, to identify opportunities for innovation and to inspire best practice across the team.
Manage social listening workstreams to track brand sentiment and identify broader conversations within the global Higher Education sector.
Monitor campaign performance and translate analytics into clear recommendations for ongoing optimization and to refine creative output.
Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and public enquiries in line with moderation and escalation guidelines.
Manage reputational risk, including issue escalation and crisis or sensitive communications support.
Ensure social media activity complies with GU-Q policies, accessibility standards, and regulatory requirements.
Help identify and empower student voices across campus, helping them translate their academic and social experiences into compelling digital storytelling.
Produce and oversee the creation of vertical, short-form video content (Reels, TikToks, Shorts) tailored to local and international audiences.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing or related field of study.
4+ years of relevant work experience.
Experience working on a prestigious global brand(s).
Experience in delivering social media posts or working on a social media brand account.
Experience of social media monitoring and reporting.
Understanding of relevant social media platforms and their requirements.
Strong project management and organizational skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication with a strong attention to detail.
Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across departments and with senior leadership.
Ability to develop strategies, briefs and reports.
Ability to work independently and prioritize a variety of content-creation tasks.
Ability to write in the style and voice of others and adapt communications for diverse audiences, from prospective students to senior academic leadership.
Working knowledge of contemporary slang terms and colloquial expressions–especially among age 15-30 international cohorts.
Ability to work under pressure and anticipate and solve problems.
Working knowledge of mobile-first design and video editing tools (e.g., Canva, CapCut, or Adobe Premiere).
Understanding of global youth culture, digital-first trends, and international student sentiment.
Ability to exercise sound judgment, apply knowledge and understanding of local context.
