
Overview
The Marketing Specialist plays a key support role in driving the success of Sherwin-Williams’ Applicator product portfolio, partnering with the Product Manager to grow and strengthen brands including Purdy, Valspar, Sherwin-Williams, and Bestt-Liebco. The role supports innovation, new product development initiatives, and go-to-market execution for strategic customers and across the product lifecycle, including customer insights, concept development, launches, and post-launch evaluation. This position involves close collaboration with R&D, Sourcing, Supply Chain, Brand & Customer Marketing, and Sales teams. The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities to keep projects on track. It is an excellent opportunity to build a foundation in Product Marketing while supporting meaningful innovation. Responsibilities
Support day-to-day marketing activities for an assigned applicator category, ensuring alignment with brand strategy and business objectives. Assist the Product Manager in the execution of innovation and new product development projects from concept through launch, via the Stage Gate process. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (R&D, Sourcing, Supply Chain, Brand & Customer Marketing, Sales) to support project milestones and timelines. Develop and maintain marketing tools and assets (presentations, product catalogs, selling materials, labels, digital content, etc.). Support customer-specific initiatives and programs for strategic partners (PSG, Lowe’s, Menards, and others). Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify trends, insights, and opportunities for growth. Support internal communication and alignment related to product and project updates, timelines, and priorities. Assist with financial reporting and analysis to assess sales performance, trends, and success of new product launches. Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree.

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, or related field. Knowledge & Experience:
Required:
1-3 years of relevant experience in marketing or a related function (internship or co-op experience considered). Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to present to groups. Ability to maintain composure in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Experience supporting product lifecycle activities (research, development, or launch). Experience gathering and interpreting customer insights or market data. Preferred: Experience in consumer goods, manufacturing, coatings, or tools/applicator products industry. Exposure to new product development processes (stage-gate, concept development, testing, commercialization). Experience supporting go-to-market plans for retail or channel partners (e.g., Lowe’s, Menards). Continuous improvement mindset; willingness to improve self, position, team, and processes.
