Overview

About Pivotal Health Pivotal Health is the leading technology platform that helps healthcare providers get paid fairly in an increasingly complex reimbursement landscape. Today, many providers face persistent underpayment from health insurance companies. Pivotal Health combines software, data, and service into an AI-driven platform that simplifies reimbursement workflows, helping providers dispute underpaid claims and recover the reimbursement they’re entitled to without adding work to stretched teams. Our full-service IDR solution is the starting point as we build solutions that provide clarity, control, and confidence across the reimbursement journey. As Pivotal’s founding Product Designer, you’ll own how our product looks, feels, and works as it evolves. You’ll establish design systems, patterns, and core user flows that scale with the product, partnering with Product Managers and Engineering leads to ensure cohesive outcomes across the platform. This role is product-heavy and execution-focused, centered on bringing clarity, consistency, and intuition to complex workflows, owning end-to-end product design strategy, and establishing foundations that scale with the business. What You’ll Do

Product Partnership & Strategy: Partner with Product Managers and Engineering leaders to shape product direction and ensure design decisions translate into scalable experiences over time. End-to-End Product Design: Own design from concept through shipped product, turning ambiguous problems into intuitive, well-executed workflows. Systems & Foundations: Establish and evolve design patterns, components, and guardrails for consistency and fast iteration at scale. Design–Engineering Alignment: Provide clear design direction that reduces iteration churn and ensures implemented UI reflects deliberate decisions. Customer Insight & Pragmatic Research: Use lightweight research, customer feedback, and usage data to inform design decisions, especially where workflows are still being discovered. Who You Are

5+ years of experience in product design, ideally in B2B, SaaS, or complex product environments. Strong product instincts and holistic problem thinking. Experience owning end-to-end design for meaningful product areas. Comfort working in ambiguity and making progress with imperfect inputs. Ability to balance speed, quality, and pragmatism in an early-stage environment. Strong communication skills and ability to articulate thinking and invite productive debate. Enjoy collaborating closely with Product and Engineering teams. Extra Credit Points

Experience as a first or early design hire. Awareness of brand guidelines and ability to align product UI accordingly, with cross-team coordination as needed. Background in regulated, technical, or workflow-heavy domains (healthcare, fintech, govtech, etc.). Comfort leading user research or usability testing. Experience building and iterating on design systems in fast-moving environments. Why You’ll Love Working Here

End-to-End Ownership: You’ll own product design holistically, bringing clarity and direction to the product experience. Product-Driven Design Work: Shape workflows, systems, and real customer experiences in collaboration with Product. Foundational Problems to Solve: Design core experiences across onboarding, client portals, analytics, and contract management. High-Impact Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Customer Success to move faster with clearer design decisions. Room to Influence Beyond the Screen: Opportunities to influence product positioning and branding with Marketing as the brand evolves. Why You’ll Love Working Here We’re a collaborative, low-ego team on a mission to make healthcare reimbursement fairer for providers. We hire around our core hubs—Los Angeles and New York—but consider exceptional talent outside those regions. Remote and hybrid flexibility varies by role and team, outlined in each job description.
