KSNW in Wichita is looking for a sports anchor/MMJ to cover the exciting world of local sports in Kansas. You'll cover great local sports in a sports-minded community and tell the inspiring personal stories of athletes and coaches. Anchor/MMJ will shoot, edit, produce and anchor sports content and report on sports content for live broadcasts and digital platforms. JOB SUMMARY Research, writing, capturing visual content and editing general assignment stories for multiple platforms.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Produce content for multiple platforms, including TV, digital, mobile, etc.
Work with management to enterprise and develop stories on a daily basis.
Demonstrate compelling storytelling using dynamic live shots and stand-ups, creative graphics, and use of digital and social media platforms.
Organize material, determine angle or emphasis, and write story according to prescribed editorial style and format standards.
Gather and verify information regarding stories through interview, observation and research.
Present compelling, clear, creative and accurate live shots.
Organize material, shoot and edit video and write stories based on the details and information obtained.
Specialized Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Knowledge of broadcast quality camera and editing equipment.
Demonstrate editorial judgment using knowledge of journalism ethics and libel laws.
Strong on-air reporting, writing, and technical skills.
Solid vocal delivery, camera presence, and clear enunciation.
Strong reporting skills.
Understand importance of social media and digital development.
Excellent reading, writing, spelling, grammar and organizational skills.
Promote teamwork and maintains attitude of cooperation with all station personnel.
Adept at ad-lib presentations, without aid of scripts and/or teleprompters.
Education/Experience Bachelor's degree in Journalism required with two (2) years of experience as on-air reporter (Equivalent years of experience may substitute for education).
Training/Equipment Operate newsroom computer systems, editing and camera equipment.
Provide resume and digital reel when applying.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements High stress environment with deadline pressures. Travel will be required on a regular basis. Position requires the transport of equipment weighing up to 60 lbs. Position often requires work in extreme outdoor temperatures. A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record are required.
