Mid-Level Database Administrator (SQL Server / T-SQL)

Compensation:
Targeting ~$90K–$125K base (flexible for strong candidate)
Overview We are seeking a Mid-Level Database Administrator to join a growing organization where you will serve as a
primary owner of the SQL Server environment . This is a hands-on role focused on performance optimization, high availability, disaster recovery, and day-to-day operational reliability. The ideal candidate has experience working in smaller or mid-sized environments and is comfortable wearing multiple hats.
This position supports mission-critical business systems and works closely with development and technology leadership.
What You’ll Do
Own and administer SQL Server databases across production and non-production environments
Monitor and tune database performance, queries, indexes, and execution plans
Write, review, and optimize T-SQL code and stored procedures
Design, implement, and maintain backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies
Implement and support high availability solutions (Always On Availability Groups, log shipping, mirroring, etc.)
Manage database security, permissions, and access controls
Perform routine maintenance (index rebuilds, statistics updates, integrity checks)
Support upgrades, patching, and database migrations with minimal downtime
Partner with developers on schema design and query optimization
Create and maintain documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures
What We’re Looking For
3–5+ years of hands-on SQL Server DBA experience
Strong T-SQL and SQL performance tuning skills
Experience implementing High Availability and Disaster Recovery
Experience owning backups, security, and storage management
Comfortable acting as a primary or sole DBA
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Nice to Have
Experience with Azure SQL or SQL Server on Azure
Experience with SSIS or ETL processes
Healthcare, revenue cycle, or billing system experience
Scripting experience (PowerShell or T-SQL automation)
