Overview Paul D. Camp Community College is seeking an Athletic Director. This is a part‑time, exempt position located in Franklin, Virginia. The role reports to the college and is responsible for overseeing all athletics programs and related activities.

Responsibilities

Compliance Management:

Develop, implement, and monitor all components necessary to ensure compliance with recruitment, NJCAA standards, and Title IX requirements for all current and future sports (including baseball, softball, men’s and women’s soccer, and eSports).

Budget and Procurement Management:

Develop, maintain, administer, and monitor an annual athletics budget. Ensure procurement and travel guidelines are followed for coaches and student participants for away games and events.

Leadership and Supervision:

Act as the program’s advocate, communicate a clear vision for growth and sustainability, supervise coaches and athletic staff, and support coaches in recruitment and fundraising targets.

Fundraising:

Identify fundraising opportunities with Institutional Advancement and coaches; ensure each sport plans and conducts at least one fundraising activity per year to support the budget.

Special Assignments:

May perform other duties as assigned and may assist the agency or state government in emergencies as declared by the Governor.

Qualifications (KSA’s/Required)

Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Athletic Administration, Education, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience in athletic administration, coaching, or intercollegiate athletics.

Demonstrated knowledge of athletic association rules and compliance (e.g., NJCAA, conference, and institutional policies).

Supervisory experience and ability to manage support personnel.

Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills; ability to work with students, faculty, administrators, and external stakeholders.

Commitment to student‑athlete success, including academic achievement, retention, and graduation.

Experience managing athletic budgets, scheduling, and operational logistics.

Knowledge of Title IX, equity, and student conduct requirements as they relate to intercollegiate athletics.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Additional Considerations

Master’s degree in sports administration, higher education, educational leadership, or a related field.

Experience as an athletic director or associate/assistant athletic director.

Experience working with first‑generation, under‑represented, or non‑traditional student populations.

Fundraising, sponsorship, or grant‑writing experience related to athletics.

Experience with athletic facilities management, capital planning, or event operations.

Demonstrated success in compliance oversight and reporting at the conference or national level.

Experience collaborating with academic affairs, student services, and enrollment management.

Knowledge of risk management, athletic training coordination, and student‑athlete wellness initiatives.

Experience promoting athletics through marketing, community engagement, and alumni relations.
