Role Summary
The SSI Junior Designer is ready to contribute to projects, provide input on decisions, and execute their deliverables with efficiency and accuracy. This role is for a designer with 1-2+ years of experience who is excited to join a high performing team, thrive in a professional environment, and bring excellence, enthusiasm, and diligence. This is not an administrative role, but a creative doer who gets to be an integral part of bringing the client’s vision to life through selections, planning, and coordinating the design and construction process from concept to completion. This role creates detailed drawings and renderings, attends client meetings, coordinates project timelines, and assists the design team to ensure projects move forward efficiently and to the highest standards. Project and Design Coordination Manage full-service interior design projects from concept through installation and close-out Develop and maintain detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation. Collaborate closely with the design team to understand project requirements and timelines. Monitor project progress and performance, adjusting plans as needed to meet client expectations. Prepare proposals, presentations, and related project documents. Client Experience Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, providing updates and addressing concerns Confidently speak with clients to present and support the design vision Maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring satisfaction throughout project phases Conduct post-project evaluations to gather feedback for continuous improvement Technical and Trade Coordination Produce and update CAD drawings, including furniture layouts, lighting plans, and detailed elevations as required for projects Assist in preparing design documentation and visual materials to support project needs Identify and coordinate with vendors, contractors, and installation teams Schedule and manage subcontractor activities to align with project timelines Finishes and Procurement Assist in sourcing materials, pulling finishes, and organizing samples as needed Participate in site visits to review electrical, lighting, and finish details Plan and coordinate logistics for furniture, decor, and materials delivery to project sites Allocate and manage resources, including labor and materials, for project execution Conduct pre-installation inspections to verify material quality and alignment with design standards Monitor installation progress on-site, resolving issues or discrepancies promptly Support installation days, ensuring the design vision is executed accurately Qualifications
Required Some knowledge of construction, trades, and sequencing Solid understanding of code, and architectural, lighting, and ceiling plans 1-2+ years of hands-on, interior design industry experience Some CAD experience (Auto CAD, SketchUp) Comfortable managing multiple, active projects and guiding the team through Strong written and verbal communication with high attention to detail and accuracy Delivers timely work, drives projects forward, and represents the brand with confidence and care Preferred Exposure to both new build and remodel, or high-end residential design Exposure to longer design cycles, in design-led firms, with technical aptitude Comfortable with complex scopes, sensitive clients, and prestige environments Good instincts with practical judgement, capable of asking thoughtful questions, anticipating problems before they happen, and protecting the client experience How to Apply
