The Director of Development and Communications leads Centro Svilas fundraising, donor stewardship, communications, and external relations strategy. This role advances the organizations mission by diversifying revenue streams, strengthening donor and community partnerships, and elevating the visibility of Centro Svilas work. The Director works collaboratively with the Board, leadership, staff, partners, and funders to secure sustainable resources and ensure strategic, compelling communications across all platforms. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Fundraising Strategy and Revenue Diversification Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies to meet annual and long-term revenue goals. Diversify revenue streams across individual giving, foundations, corporations, government, and special campaigns. Identify and pursue major gifts, planned giving, sponsorships, and capital opportunities. Lead strategic planning to identify new fundraising avenues and strengthen existing funding relationships. Provide regular updates to the Leadership and Board on fundraising progress, challenges, and opportunities. Donor Cultivation, Stewardship and External Relations Cultivate and steward relationships with individual donors, corporate partners, community organizations, and other stakeholders. Represent Centro Svila at community, civic, and professional events. Lead annual giving efforts, including donor retention strategies, appeals, campaigns, and events. Guide donor engagement and acknowledgment activities (letters, calls, recognition, events). Collaborate with the Executive Director and Board to manage high-level donor relationships and major gift strategies. Grant Development and Management Along with the leadership team, oversee grant research, proposal development, and timely submission of applications. Manage required reporting and ongoing communication with funders. Supervise and support the Grant Manager and related staff in cultivating foundation and government funding. Work in collaboration with the leadership team to ensure the timely and accurate tracking of grants, deadlines, deliverables, and performance metrics. Communications Leadership and Public Awareness Oversee strategic communications to strengthen Centro Svilas visibility and brand. Lead the development of messaging, storytelling, newsletters, press releases, social media content, and donor communications. Supervise the Communications team to ensure cohesive, timely, and high-quality content across all platforms. Guide the creation of communication collateral that supports fundraising and donor engagement. Maintain consistent, mission-aligned messaging across digital, print, and public-facing materials. Data, Systems and Reporting Ensure accurate and up-to-date donor data in the donor management system. Develop and analyze fundraising reports, donor trends, and performance metrics. Maintain systems for tracking donor stewardship, funder communications, and grant activities. Collaborate with finance and program staff to align fundraising data with organizational needs. Team Leadership and Collaboration Lead, hire, train, and supervise the Development and Communications team, including the Communications Manager, Development Assistant, and Grant Manager. Provide coaching, feedback, and professional development to staff. Facilitate coordination among fundraising, communications, and program teams. Support recruitment and activities of the Board Development Committee. Budgeting and Administrative Responsibilities Work in collaboration with the leadership team, support the development of annual fundraising budgets and revenue projections. Manage fundraising and communications budgets and ensure responsible resource allocation. Ensure timely submission of timesheets, reports, and administrative requirements. Produce quarterly Development and Communications updates for the Board.
