Summary

Marie Standish, Tawas and West Branch. This role will be responsible for managing Cardiovascular services at all sites and continuing to provide award-winning, high-quality care. This position maintains overall clinical and administrative management of CV Diagnostics and Invasive Imaging finances, rate setting, performance improvement, operational and capital budgeting, short and long range planning, staff and project development, provides customer service and support for the service lines. The Director will work in collaboration with the Vice President for new business development for all the medical centers services. Maintains and improves profitability through revenue enhancement and expense reduction. Works closely with the Cardiovascular specialists, Interventional radiologists, and staff at all four medical centers in setting department medical policies and procedures, measuring quality assurance and monitoring regulatory standards. Promotes teamwork and communication between staff, management and physicians while maintaining high patient care standards and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

(40%)*

Develops and implements long range strategic plans, annual operational budgets and supply and capital acquisition plan for Cardiovascular and Invasive Imaging services for all four medical centers. Approves all expenditures, within established limits, including appropriate documentation. Coordinates review of inventory and equipment including replacement or purchase of new, if warranted. Maintains a financially viable service. Analyzes and reports and explains any variances for all areas of Cardiovascular and Invasive Imaging.

Oversees employee development through recruiting, interviewing, hiring, promotion and discipline as needed. Oversees employee education and is responsible to ensure employees meet required certifications and licensure as indicated by their job description. Evaluates and counsels employee's relative to performance, conduct, attendance and compliance to department/medical center policies.

Develops proposals for new services or changes in current services, which include financial plan, market plan and operational plan.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Administrates and establishes hospital and department policies and procedures.

Monitors regulatory standards for all services provided in areas of responsibility. Maintains Joint Commission, CON, ACC, SVS, SIRS, IAC standards and accreditation. Has oversight to ensure Lead garment testing, Critical Test tracking.

Radiation exposure reporting and Equipment physicist testing. Promotes the development, analysis, and implementation of the performance improvement process.

Accountable for the facilitation of a uniform demonstration of all aspects/functions of Cardiovascular and Invasive Imaging services at all medical centers.

Serves as liaison and facilitates final problem resolution in regards to interaction between patients, referring physicians, staff, and other departments throughout MyMichigan Health.

Participates on medical center(s)/system teams and /or committees as needed.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS:

Three (3) years clinical experience in the field and five (5) years management experience in a medical center or similar setting required.

Leadership skills needed to effectively direct a group.

Written and interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups and interact with people at all levels to communicate ideas and concepts in a clear and understandable manner.

Knowledge of basic techniques in financial analysis.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death.

Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.

Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.

Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).

Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.

Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.

Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.

Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.
