Donor Relations Assistant

Hybrid, Temporary | Rockville, MD

$25-$30 per hour

Position Overview

The Donor Relations Assistant plays a key role in supporting philanthropic operations by ensuring donors receive timely, accurate, and meaningful recognition. This position manages gift processing, donor communications, and database accuracy while providing administrative and event support to the philanthropy team. The role is hybrid, combining on-site collaboration with remote work flexibility.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee end-to-end gift processing, including data entry, verification, and donor acknowledgment

Prepare, personalize, and coordinate donor thank-you letters, memorial cards, and family notifications

Maintain accurate donor records in Raiser's Edge, including address updates and next-of-kin information

Manage workplace giving, matching gifts, and returned mail follow-up

Generate mailing lists, queries, and reports to support appeals, newsletters, and annual communications

Coordinate and support donor mailings and monthly appeal production

Respond professionally to donor inquiries via phone and email

Train and guide volunteers assisting with donor recognition activities

Provide administrative and logistical support for meetings and fundraising events (e.g., gala, memorial events)

Maintain departmental files, supplies, and documentation

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required

2+ years of experience in data entry, donor services, fundraising support roles

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Experience with donor databases; Raiser's Edge preferred

Excellent attention to detail, organization, and data accuracy

Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills

Strong customer service mindset with the ability to handle sensitive communications

Experience with mail merges and report generation a plus
