
Financial Aid Specialist

Primary Purpose of Position
Manage daily, weekly, and monthly reports associated with the Office of Financial Aid involving but not limited to Federal Pell Grant, Federal TEACH Grant, and Transient Study processing.
Import and export federal grant files to the Department of Education daily.
Serve as the point of contact for transient study program at Charlotte, which will require adjusting aid based on final outcome of courses.
Serve as the point of contact for the Special Rule Pell Grant and the Children of Fallen Heroes Scholarship, which will require adjusting aid based on documentation received.
Serve as a backup for withdrawal processing, study abroad, and part of term.
Provide financial aid counseling both by telephone, email and in person. This will include providing information regarding financial aid policies and procedures to prospective students as well as current students, parents and other visitors.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
Experience in Higher Education, preferably Financial Aid.
Knowledge of Financial Aid regulations; knowledge of Federal Pell Grant and Federal TEACH Grants and other reports.
Microsoft and Google Suite intermediate experience preferred.
Strong Critical Thinking Skills; excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with exceptional attention to details.
