As a Sales Management Trainee, you will participate in Suburban Accessories’ 12-month immersive Management Trainee Program designed to develop future sales and business leaders. This role is ideal for recent college graduates who are eager to build strong business acumen, gain hands-on experience across Sales and Operations, and grow into leadership roles within the organization.
The program combines structured learning, cross-functional rotations, field exposure, and a guided Territory Sales Manager pilot experience. Throughout the program, you will develop a deep understanding of Suburban Accessories’ products, OEM relationships, dealer network, and operational execution while building the analytical, communication, and leadership skills needed for long-term success.
Successful completion of the program prepares participants for consideration into supervisory or early leadership roles based on performance, business needs, and location availability. Completion of the program does not guarantee placement into a management role.
Sales Management Trainee
Responsibilities:
Sales & Business Development
Support dealer relationships by analyzing sales performance, identifying trends, and recommending growth opportunities.
Assist in the execution of OEM and Suburban Accessories sales programs, promotions, and incentives.
Prepare dealership performance updates and business reviews using sales dashboards and reporting tools.
Participate in territory planning, forecasting, and budgeting activities.
Cross-Functional & Operational Exposure
Gain hands-on exposure to Inventory, Sales Operations, Customer Service, Marketing, Data & Analytics, and Warehouse Operations.
Learn order processing, inventory allocation, fulfillment, delivery execution, and returns management.
Participate in driver ride-along and warehouse operations to understand end-to-end order fulfillment.
Customer Service & Issue Resolution
Support dealer inquiries related to parts, accessories, pricing, availability, and order status.
Assist with resolving order discrepancies, returns, delivery issues, and dealer concerns.
Serve as a communication bridge between Sales, Operations, and Customer Service teams.
Field & Territory Sales Experience
Shadow Sales Managers and Territory Sales Managers observe dealer engagement strategies and field execution.
Participate in riding along with Ford and GM Territory Sales Managers.
Manage pilot sales territory under guidance, including dealer communication, performance tracking, and sales execution.
Conduct dealer training and reinforce best practices to drive accessory penetration and profitability.
Leadership Development & Analytics
Analyze sales data to identify opportunities, gaps, and performance drivers.
Participate in leadership meetings, forecast reviews, and KPI discussions.
Support promotional budget tracking, commissions reporting, and sales performance recaps.
Complete a Final Project Presentation demonstrating cross-functional knowledge, strategic thinking, and business impact.
Adhere to Suburban Automotive Services’ DRIVEN values and align daily actions with the SAS mission and vision.
Sales Management Trainee Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree required (Business, Marketing, Sales, Supply Chain, Finance, Analytics, or related field preferred).
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
Demonstrated leadership potential through internships, campus involvement, athletics, or work experience.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to analyze data and present insights in a clear, professional manner.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Willingness and ability to travel and relocate to any company location as needed.
Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
Ability to pass background check and drug screening.
Sales Management Trainee Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
Combination of offices, warehouses, and field environments.
Regular travel to dealership locations and distribution centers.
Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods as required.
Occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs. during warehouse or field exposure.
