Overview
The Director of Clinical Operations (DCO) will provide oversight of clinical operations of the department and manage, train, and support departmental Clinical Administrators. The DCO will focus on coordination and collaboration for ambulatory care clinics at Tulane University Medical Group and affiliated hospitals. The qualified candidate will work closely with Department of Medicine outpatient clinic staff and physicians on operational concerns and function as a liaison to hospital partners and Tulane University Medical Group (TUMG). The DCO will work collaboratively with key leaders in those areas to assist with coordinating professional services, revenue cycle billing data, RVU reports, coding benchmarks and upfront payment auditing and collection support. The DCO will review and advise on feedback from the Executive Director of Revenue Cycle and Business Operations/TUMG, Department Executive Director, Clinical Section Chiefs, Department Chair and faculty on revenue cycle issues and solutions. The DCO will work closely with department leadership to evaluate clinical activity compared to budget. The DCO will assist with reports and projections on clinical activity for budgeting by faculty. The incumbent will need an understanding of clinic staffing models and ratios, provider schedule maximization, and billing knowledge through various formats such as will support these activities and roles.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Knowledge of electronic medical record systems. • Familiar with hospital-based clinics, free-standing clinics and academic programs. • Knowledge of applicable local, state and federal laws related to clinical practices. • Excellent leadership and team-building skills • Experience working with physician practice management. • Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT coding. • Knowledge and understanding of relative value units related to physician productivity metrics. • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. • Ability to pro-actively work independently and collaboratively with multiple leaders and departments for aligned goals. Required Education and/or Experience • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university and eight years of directly related experience in a healthcare administration setting. • Seven years' experience in the patient care environment, including physician billing, collections, and clinic operations. Preferred Qualifications • Master’s Degree in a relevant field • RN with current licensure through the State of Louisiana, OR graduate degree in nursing and/or business administration • Knowledge of HMO, PPO, Commercial, and Governmental Payor Policies & Guidelines • Expert level of competence in front-end operations management Compensation Information This position is classified as "exempt, salaried" and is assigned to pay grade 29.
