Description
The Michigan Democratic Party seeks a Voter Access Director for the 2026 Coordinated Campaign. The Voter Access Director will be key to fighting Republican voter suppression efforts, expanding turnout, and ensuring every eligible voter has their ballot counted. The Voter Access Director should be a savvy political mind who can engage a variety of stakeholders and build programs that recruit and organize volunteers to move officials toward policies that facilitate voting. The Voter Access Director will be responsible for hiring and then managing teams to oversee these programs. At their core, the Voter Access Director is a relationship builder who will develop a robust rolodex of stakeholders and officials, a team leader who’s able to make the complex clear, and an organizer ready to call volunteers to action. This is a critical role serving on the senior leadership team and will work closely with other departments and stakeholders to implement programs that elect Democrats up and down the ballot. This position is full-time and based in Detroit, Michigan. Key Responsibilities & Characteristics
Collaboration:
Act as a collaborative partner and work closely with the Coordinated Campaign Director, Coordinated Table partners, and the DSCC to identify strategies to advocate for policies that facilitate voting
Work across the coordinated campaign to collaborate with Organizing, Data, and Operations departments to effectively implement programs
Programs:
Build election administration engagement and voter access programs in Michigan Strategy:
Think strategically and set strategic objectives for programs and metric goals to achieve those objectives
Remain goal oriented and hold yourself self and your team accountable to meeting programmatic goals
Team Management:
Hire, manage, and lead Voter Access department staff Qualifications
Experience:
Multiple cycles of campaign experience in a political or organizing role, or similar experience at an advocacy organization, nonprofit, or consulting firm, with a preference for Michigan-specific experience Stakeholder Management:
Experience managing external relationships with stakeholders at different levels Management:
Experience managing others and investing in the success of direct reports Communication:
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, especially as applied to building a strong, inclusive management culture that supports staff development Strategic Coordination
:
Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate with stakeholders across all levels of the organization Technical Fluency:
Fluency with Voter Access tools, such as LBJ and VAN, preferred Salary, Benefits, and Logistics
The salary range is $8,500 – $9,500 per month. This position includes a full benefits package of health, vision, and dental insurance coverage.
