Long Island University (LIU) hosts a leading Dassault Systèmes Center of Excellence in Life Sciences. Through our collaboration with Dassault Systèmes and other partners, we are spearheading the digital transformation of life science, education and clinical practice by leveraging advanced computational methods, AI and in-silico modeling and wet lab investigation specifically Organ on Chip technologies. The pillars of our joint strategy rely on 1) Computer Aided solutions for drug discovery, design, delivery and repurposing 2) multiscale and multiphysics modeling of the human systems, referred to as Virtual Twin, with direct application in therapy discovery, therapy development and precision medicine (Pharmaceuticals and Medical Device) 3) AI augmented solutions for life sciences, 4) Rigorous evaluation and validation of digital analyses through wet-lab experimentation, particularly using organ- and organoid-on-chip platforms. LIU has received approval from the New York State Education Department (NYSED) to establish/launch a Bachelor of Engineering in Digital Engineering degree program, which will prepare students for the workforce of the future through an interdisciplinary and experiential curriculum with an emphasis on engineering, design, computing and Artificial Intelligence. This program also incorporates hands-on wet lab validations, including work with analytical instrumentation, GMP-compliant laboratories, the full spectrum of drug discovery and development, and ISO 9 cleanroom facilities, enabling students to translate computational models and AI-driven designs into real-world experiments such as materials testing, sensor development, microfluidics, and bioengineering/biomedical applications. The new program, fully built on DS tools and technologies and integrated with hands-on wet lab experience, serves as a global model to train the next generation of engineers through a multidisciplinary approach combining AI, biomedical, and pharmaceutical disciplines.

The College of Pharmacy seeks an experienced laboratory scientist to serve as Lab Director, aligned with our ambitious research and educational vision. The candidate will facilitate LIU’s innovative partnerships, advance the signature educational and research areas of the Center of Excellence (CoE), and contribute to developing the next generation of engineers. The candidate will also take full responsibility for managing analytical, GMP, and ISO 9 laboratory operations, integrating hands-on wet lab experimentation with computational biology, computational chemistry, bioinformatics, AI, precision medicine, and digital health applications in pharmaceutical and nutraceutical manufacturing.

Long Island University is seeking candidates for multiple positions in computational biology, computational chemistry, bioinformatics, AI, Materials science/life science, cell and molecular biologists, immunologists and precision medicine, with expertise in the digital health industry, pharmaceutical and nutraceutical manufacturing, hands-on wet lab work, analytical laboratory operations, ISO 9 cell culture handling, and both in vitro and in vivo analytical techniques. Candidates will be expected to build and tailor capabilities to meet the challenge of integrating the 3DS Platform and laboratory techniques into course development, teaching and learning, and research. These positions offer excellent potential for career growth and leadership. The successful candidates must possess strong record of academic and research excellence at the cutting edge of their fields.

Required Qualifications All candidates must have a demonstrated record of excellence in research with the potential to establish an independent research program and a commitment to excellence in service to the College of Pharmacy, the Center of Excellence, and LIU at large and its community.

Preferred Qualifications Preferred candidates will have experience and/or demonstrated ability to manage our research facilties, contributing to work in the fields of engineering, pharmacy, drug discovery, analytical methods and characterization, targeted therapy and regenerative medicine as well as computing and AI, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Application Procedures A full application must include a cover letter, a C.V., teaching statement, research statement, samples of research publications, teaching evaluations if applicable, and a list of a minimum of three references, including name, email, address, and telephone number. Only electronic documents will be accepted. Please complete the online application in addition to uploading the required documents. All required documents must be submitted for review consideration.
