
Director of Accounting & Finance
Job Description
Lead all accounting and financial operations including general ledger, month-end close, financial reporting, and compliance. Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management for multiple projects. Ensure accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Manage and optimize the use of the company's ERP system, with a preference for Sage. Establish and maintain internal controls, policies, and best practices. Supervise and mentor the accounting team, which consists of three people, including performance management and development. Partner closely with the CEO and executive leadership on financial strategy and decision-making. Support project accounting, cost tracking, WIP reporting, and job cost analysis. Coordinate with external partners including auditors, tax advisors, and banks. Ensure compliance with applicable GAAP, tax, and regulatory requirements. Drive process improvements to support scalability and operational efficiency in a growing organization.
Responsibilities

Essential Skills 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
Master's degree preferred.
CPA strongly preferred.
Experience in construction, engineering, architecture, or professional services environments.
Strong working knowledge of project accounting and job costing.
Hands-on experience with Sage ERP or similar systems.
Proven people leadership experience managing accounting teams.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented, in-office environment.
Strong communication skills with the ability to partner effectively with executive leadership.
High attention to detail with a strategic, forward-thinking mindset.
Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting.
Experience in month-end and general ledger processes.
Work Environment The role is 100% on-site, 5 days per week in a fast-paced, collaborative, and continuously growing organization of 115 team members.
