About the Role: As the Director of Technical Revenue and Assurance, you will be a vital leader within Confluent's Revenue Accounting team. In this role, you will be a subject matter expert on ASC 606, managing the revenue policy framework and driving technical revenue conclusions. You'll serve as a strategic advisor across various departments, providing guidance on revenue recognition, contract negotiations, and new product initiatives. Your leadership will be key in building and developing a high-performing team, emphasizing technical expertise and a culture of continuous improvement. What You Will Do: Lead the Technical Revenue & Assurance function , serving as an expert on ASC 606, establishing the vision and governance to ensure compliance and alignment with business goals. Develop and manage the revenue policy framework , authoring and maintaining policies and memos on complex revenue arrangements to balance compliance, risk, and scalability. Influence complex revenue deals
in collaboration with Sales and FP&A, ensuring optimal outcomes and rapid closures on SaaS, on-premises licenses, and multi-element contracts. Build and mentor a high-performing team , encouraging ongoing development and fostering a culture of learning and improvement. Collaborate with product management and engineering
on pricing, packaging, and new product introductions, assessing revenue impacts and business risks. Manage auditor engagements , ensuring consistent policy application and proactive addressing of emerging topics and SOX-compliant controls. What You Will Bring: BS in Finance or Accounting; CPA and Big 4 experience are required. 10 years of relevant experience at a Big 4 firm or a global publicly traded tech company, including at least 3 years in a technical revenue role. Strong knowledge of US GAAP, particularly ASC 606 for software revenue and SaaS. A strategic thinker who excels in prioritizing projects in a dynamic environment. Proven ability to inspire change and motivate others. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, across all company levels.
