In the role of Lead Purchasing Specialist, you will be a key player in the Supply Chain Planning Team. Your expertise will ensure that we procure the necessary materials for our Make-to-Order/Engineer-to-Order pump manufacturing processes, aligning with customer expectations. As part of our dynamic team, you will be responsible for coordinating material availability and timely delivery to meet our clients' needs. This position is based at our Indianapolis, IN facility and operates in a hybrid work environment. Your Responsibilities: Manage daily tasks impacting purchase order performance, including: Issuing purchase orders in our SAP system. Monitoring demand versus supply and taking appropriate action. Collaborating with vendors to ensure timely deliveries. Resolving discrepancies related to supply/vendor issues. Executing a range of MRP transactions and reports to align supply and demand. Releasing and managing purchase orders to support customer needs. Adjusting purchase orders based on inventory levels to prevent shortages or excess. Communicating delivery expectations with suppliers to ensure compliance. Addressing purchase order issues and bottlenecks to minimize delays. Maintaining accurate purchase order records within ERP systems. Optimizing purchasing and MRP master data. Following up with suppliers for credit on defective materials. Effectively communicating with stakeholders to manage expectations and resolve issues. Meeting deliverables aligned with company strategies. Working towards reducing lead times to meet customer and market demands. Escalating issues when suppliers fall short of customer expectations. Your Background: We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications: A bachelor's degree in supply chain management or a related field. 5+ years of experience in a Buyer role, particularly in a manufacturing environment. Solid understanding of foundry processes, tooling, and casting materials. Experience in purchasing castings is highly preferred. Exceptionally organized with strong follow-up skills. Professional communication skills, able to engage with internal and external stakeholders. Strong time management abilities and a sense of urgency. Proficient in Microsoft 365, especially Excel and Power BI. Experience with MRP systems. Knowledge of ERP systems, particularly SAP (MM and PP modules).
