
Contract to Hire Public Relations Supervisor
This 6‑month Contract to Hire opportunity aligns closely with the agency’s focus on food in both the business‑to‑business and business‑to‑consumer spectrum.
The PR supervisor oversees a wide range of public relations activities, including writing, media relations, event support, outcomes measurement, and more. The supervisor may also serve as a talent lead responsible for team goal setting, career mapping, coaching, and performance feedback.
As with every level of PR practitioner, the PR supervisor helps maintain a favorable public image for clients and Curious Plot by communicating key messages, accomplishments, and points of view; manages media relations, announcements, speaking opportunities, and thought leadership initiatives; maintains high acumen with the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures; relies on his/her own extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals; and leads and directs the work of others.
RESPONSIBILITIES & SKILLS
Deliver full breadth of public relations services including earned media, experiential marketing and events, stakeholder management, industry relations, reputation management, internal communications, issues management, influencer management, and technical writing
Accountable for ensuring projects are on time, on budget, and on strategy
Writing for a variety of needs/channels, such as message development, media releases, thought leadership articles, etc.
Media pitching and building media relationships
Strategic planning and development of PR campaigns
Stay abreast of current events and PR trends and tools and provide insights and POV to clients
Support issues and crisis communications
Effectively manage up with supervisors
Coach, mentor and provide support for team members
Establish goals, conduct reviews, and oversee the career‑mapping process for direct reports
Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to interface with all levels of executives and senior management
Exceptional interpersonal skills – listening, empathizing, problem solving, managing conflict, facilitating critical conversations – that inspire trust
Storyteller, critical thinker, and problem solver
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in PR, journalism, communications, English, or related field
Seven‑to‑ten years of experience in journalism or communications
Proficiency with various technology tools including Microsoft Office suite

Hourly Rate: $100‑$125/hr
Pay range is $75 – $110K
