
Nature of Work
Under general supervision performs work of considerable difficulty managing the delivery of information and training to department staff, emergency responders, health professionals, and related agencies; performs related work as assigned. Typical Duties
(Illustrative Only) plans, develops, and coordinates training programs and informational activities that prepare emergency responders and health professionals for public health emergencies; collaborates with public health preparedness staff and various stakeholders to identify training priorities; plans, organizes, promotes and evaluates training programs; oversees the utilization and maintenance of SIREN, satellite, video conferencing, and other communications systems; coordinates special activities such as emergency readiness workshops, communication systems tests, and coordinated training exercises; plans, develops, conducts and evaluates exercises to practice various emergency plans; prepares after action reports and ensures corrective action implemented in both the plans and the training curricula; conducts research and performs special assignments as assigned. Essential functions of this position include: working with and around other staff and clients; vision acuity (near) for reading computer work; hearing and speech for ordinary conversation and for communicating with staff and clients; finger dexterity / touch for typing filing etc.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Health Education, or related field, and three years of health education or administrative experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. Preferences: Master’s degree in public health, emergency preparedness or a closely related field, Bachelor’s degree in public health, emergency preparedness or a closely related field, Experience in the implementation of emergency preparedness training, Experience in emergency preparedness exercise planning, facilitation and reporting, Experience in public health, Experience in any type of group training or education, Experience in volunteer recruitment and management, and Bi-lingual in English and Spanish.
