The Permira private equity funds make both long-term majority (Buyout) and minority (Growth Equity) investments in four key sectors: Technology, Consumer, Healthcare, Services. The Permira credit funds support businesses with flexible financing solutions across Direct Lending, Strategic Opportunities and CLO Management. Established in 2007, the firm advises investment funds and products which have provided approximately €20 billion of debt capital to over 300 businesses. This is a newly created US Communications role supporting the firm’s growing presence and activity in the US market. As the first communications hire based in the US, the role will lead external communications locally while working closely with the global Communications & Marketing team to ensure alignment, consistency and high-quality delivery. The position offers a high degree of autonomy and impact, with close exposure to senior stakeholders and the firm’s investment and business narratives. It is well suited to an experienced communications professional looking to help shape and grow a US communications function within a global private equity firm. The salary range for this role is $120k to $160k.
Responsibilities
External Communications:
Lead US-focused external communications, including brand positioning, media engagement, crisis communications and transaction-related activity.
Partner with the global Communications team to deliver coordinated and consistent external messaging.
Support the oversight and coordination of external PR agencies, particularly in the US.
Marketing:
Contribute to broader marketing initiatives in collaboration with the team, with a particular focus on the US.
Support activity across digital channels, events, video content and thought leadership.
Internal Communications:
Work with the Communications & Marketing team to deliver clear and effective internal communications aligned with firm-wide priorities.
Team & Projects:
Support ad hoc initiatives and projects as the communications function and wider business continue to evolve.
Desired Experience
Degree-qualified, with approximately 4–7 years’ experience in a communications or PR role within financial services, such as a financial PR agency, alternative asset manager, investment bank or private equity firm.
Broader exposure to areas such as media relations, internal communications, branding, marketing or strategic communications is advantageous.
Skills & Attributes
Able to operate with a high degree of independence while contributing effectively within a collaborative, global team.
Confident, professional communicator with strong relationship-building capabilities.
Highly organised, with excellent time management and the ability to balance multiple priorities.
Proactive, solutions-oriented and comfortable navigating new or ambiguous topics.
