The Corporate Communications department at Publix spearheads internal communications and press releases, publishes monthly newsletters and annual benefits notices, handles department‑specific communications, and manages digital content for Publix's internally facing platforms. Within this team, the Corporate Communications Developer is the expert in associate communications by crafting strategies and delivering impactful messages that resonate across Publix. From personalized communications to large‑scale campaigns, this role is essential in driving engagement and reinforcing Publix’s culture. The Developer uses creativity and strategic insight to promote our company’s vision, facilitate change and inspire associates to become brand advocates. The Corporate Communications Developer reports to the Corporate Communications Manager.
What you’ll do
Develop strategic communication plans that support business initiatives
Develop communications directed to internal and external audiences, including communications that educate and inform associates of company strategy, initiatives and goals
Help other departments provide accurate and timely information
Serve as the subject matter expert in associate–directed communications and counsel internal clients on communication strategies in order to meet company and project or department objectives
Develop scripts and speeches for company leaders
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in public relations, journalism, strategic communications or business communication, or equivalent experience
At least five years of experience in the fields of public relations, journalism, integrated marketing communication, or business communication
At least two years of experience in multimedia/electronic communication
At least two years of experience managing projects
Knowledge of the supermarket retail industry and business
Knowledge of publications’ styles, formats, word‑count allowances, etc.
Knowledge of Associated Press style
Knowledge of campaign development to strategically plan a campaign to solve a business problem
Knowledge of benefits, insurance and financial terminology and communication laws
Knowledge of printing process and terminology
Knowledge of photographic design and elements
Ability to write in a clear and concise manner and the ability to edit and proofread communications accurately
Ability to use and define metrics for communications programs/tactics
Ability to envision a final product structurally and graphically and communicate this to others
Ability to be creative, consistent and innovative
Excellent interpersonal and interviewing skills including ability to work with senior leadership
Ability to persuade, negotiate, and exercise professionalism
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
Ability to see big picture of company operations
Ability to adapt to the use of new technology quickly
Ability to be detail‑oriented and accurate when completing tasks
Ability to work well under pressure and work on multiple projects at the same time
Computer skills in Microsoft (like Word, PowerPoint) as well as the internet and intranet
Willingness to keep current on industry trends and know how to access this information
Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays and overnights to meet business needs
Willingness to travel via plane or car to locations throughout the company and to additional areas for training or research purposes
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in communications or business
Seven or more years of experience in public relations, journalism, or business communication
Four or more years of experience in multimedia/electronic communication in benefits information, financial information and project management
Certification/accreditation, such as Accredited in Public Relations (APR), Accredited in Business Communication (ABC), or Certified Public Relations Professional Counselor (CPRC)
Computer skills in SharePoint
Knowledge of Publix strategy and structure, with regards to job classifications, titles, divisions, support areas and reporting structure
Knowledge of PASSport/publix.org, Publix Connection, and publix.com structure and functionality
Knowledge of company programs and initiatives
Knowledge of Publix’s history, community image and vision/mission statement
Experience with speech writing
Knowledge of the core message strategy and plan for Publix and Corporate Communications
Knowledge of basic Publix financial information

Year End Bonus As a year‑end bonus to associates, Publix issues one month’s extra pay (pro‑rated in the first year) each year if the associate remains employed through the issue date of the bonus check that year.
