Job Summary The Employee Relations Specialist Senior supports the Human Resources goal of remaining a strategic member of the University community by educating and coaching employees, administrators, managers and supervisors on equitable application of policies and practices. Primary duties include consulting and coaching managers and supervisors on addressing workplace issues and corrective action, maintaining employee relations documentation and records, and providing guidance to managers and employees regarding University policies, procedures, and best practices. The Senior must be able to consider the perspectives of the business as a whole, not only the needs of the individual.

Responsibilities

Consult and coach managers and supervisors on effective ways to address workplace issues and corrective action, in accordance with University and department policy and procedure.

Consult with employees on workplace issues and maintain employee relations documentation and records.

Provide guidance to managers and employees regarding University policies, procedures, and other best practices.

Approach each scenario from the broader business perspective as needed.

Qualifications

Knowledge of state and federal employment laws and related liability issues.

Educational requirement: BA.

5 years of related experience.

Must have the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups.

Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? No.
