We are looking for an experienced senior-level tax professional to join and lead our fast‑paced, high‑performing tax department in our headquarters in Palo Alto, CA. The Head of Tax is a Director‑level professional who will lead the global tax strategy, tax planning, tax accounting and tax compliance functions of our organization. The individual will be a key member of the Chief Accounting Officer’s organization. This is a great opportunity that will allow for career growth as the company continues to scale!
What You Will Be Doing
- Develop and implement tax strategies aligned with business goals and regulations
- Conduct tax research and analysis to identify tax planning opportunities and mitigate risks
- Analyze the tax implications of major business decisions, such as mergers, acquisitions, and new market entries
- Collaborate with various internal departments (finance, legal, operations) and external advisors to ensure tax considerations are integrated into business decisions
- Oversee the preparation and review of tax returns (federal, state, and international), ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Manage the tax provision process and ensure compliance with accounting standards (e.g., ASC 740)
- Maintain and enhance internal controls over tax processes
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance tax efficiency and accuracy
- Manage and develop direct reports and a global team, allocating resources effectively to meet departmental goals and deadlines
Qualifications
- Ability to perform job responsibilities within a hybrid work model that requires professionals to be in office at least 3 days per week
- BS in Accounting or Master’s in Tax, with CPA certification required
- 15+ years of experience in tax planning, accounting and compliance
- Extensive ASC 740 knowledge, and SEC reporting for income tax
- Experience with international tax issues
- Understanding of indirect tax concepts and filings
- People management experience required
- Must be a team player and able to work in a fast‑paced, rapidly changing environment and comply with tight deadlines
- Superior organization and verbal/communication skills
Compensation
US Pay Range: $217,800—$305,100 USD. The role is eligible for bonus potential, equity and benefits.
