Job Description:

The Manager, Global Trade Compliance will support Global Trade, Legal, and Supply Chain organizations by executing and advancing the company's import compliance strategy in North America. This role is responsible for ensuring adherence to U.S. import regulations, strengthening internal controls, identifying and closing compliance gaps, and driving process standardization and automation.

This position serves as a subject matter expert for import compliance, a primary liaison to customs brokers, and a key contributor to global trade compliance initiatives. The role operates with minimal supervision and leads complex compliance activities, audits, and projects that protect regulatory posture while enabling efficient global trade.

Up to 10% travel may be required, with occasional work outside standard business hours.

Key Responsibilities

Import Compliance Management (45%) Lead execution and maintenance of U.S. import compliance policies, procedures, and internal controls. Manage and enhance Customs Compliance and Self-Testing Program (STP), including quarterly audits and Annual Notification Letter (ANL) preparation. Conduct audits of import transactions to assess compliance health, broker performance, and third-party execution. Evaluate audit results using completeness, accuracy, and availability criteria; identify risk areas and implement corrective action plans. Oversee and support customs broker relationships, including performance reviews and service-level management. Monitor and report compliance KPIs and scorecards to leadership. Team & Cross-Functional Support (25%)

Collaborate with Global Trade Operations, Legal, Supply Chain, and other stakeholders on trade compliance matters. Maintain and update Global Trade Compliance Principles, Rules, and Tools documentation. Support development and delivery of trade compliance training programs. Project Management & Process Improvement (10%)

Drive standardization and automation of import compliance processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and cycle time. Support cross-functional trade-related projects and provide guidance on import requirements impacting commercial initiatives. Financial & Program Support (10%)

Support Customs Reconciliation Program, including reconciliation filings and ACH draw reconciliation. Identify, track, and report cost-saving and duty-optimization initiatives. Career Development & Leadership (10%)

Participate in goal setting, cross-training, and succession planning activities. Provide guidance and knowledge sharing across the Global Trade Compliance team. Top Technical Skills Required

Customs Reconciliation Country of Origin Determination & Marking HTS Classification and Free Trade Agreement (FTA) Qualification Required Experience & Qualifications

Experience :

pproximately 10 years of progressive import/global trade compliance experience Demonstrated ownership of a Customs Compliance Program

Education :

Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field

Preferred Certifications:

Customs Broker License Master Customs Specialist, Certified Customs Specialist, or similar

Industry Preference:

Client, food, chocolate, or confectionery manufacturing
