Our Vice President (VP) of Marketing will oversee marketing strategy and execution of marketing for all aspects of our new global association supporting the fresh produce and floral industries. The VP of Marketing will champion the marketing function for the department and the broader membership while being fully comfortable working in a servant‑leader capacity. A successful candidate would be a team leader and player, creative and results‑oriented to bring world‑class marketing, creativity and team leadership to the new association.

Position Responsibilities MARKETING OPERATIONS AND EXECUTION (50%)

Oversee the organization’s marketing of events, programs and conferences as well as lead branding, trade media, sales collateral material, direct mail, sponsorship execution, campaign promotion, new product marketing, and marketing‑related member relationship and engagement activities, all essential to enhancing the organization’s performance, membership experience brand reputation globally Lead the development of strategic marketing plans to support the organization’s mission, objectives, goals

Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams for marketing, program and strategic efforts

Leverage research, analytics, and insights to inform decisions and develop KPIs to instill rigor and real‑time actions for all marketing activities to deliver against goals

Oversee budget development, management and expenditures in compliance with association financial rules

Lead a master content calendar to effectively manage communication messages and marketing plans through collaboration with internal departments including senior‑level Subject Matter Experts (SME)

TEAM LEADERSHIP (20%)

Lead, manage, coach and develop direct reports to become a high‑performing marketing team

Foster a collaborative environment where teams thrive and deliver against results

Champion professional development to build functional marketing excellence within the organization

Consult on advocacy initiatives and industry issues with the communications, government relations, science and technology, food safety and regulatory affairs teams

Partner with the VP of Sales to deliver the organization’s sales strategies and deliverables

Serve as the subject matter expert for events, programs and resources for marketing professionals and be the staff liaison to a member volunteer committee

BRAND MANAGEMENT (10%)

Lead demand generation marketing for product lines, working collaboratively with staff leads to diversify revenue and meet targets

Steward and nurture the association’s brand to drive awareness, engagement and lead generation with members and key audiences

Maintain brand standards and ensure compliance across all marketing and communications channels for the association and foundation brands Develop and implement an integrated marketing plan to advance brand identity, broaden and increase the visibility of its programs and build a strong public voice.

Oversee a first‑class digital presence that will drive awareness of the organization’s leadership position and relevance to member companies, the industry and the public

Work collaboratively with Senior Management and Director of Communications for advocacy and issues management

STRATEGY & PLANNING (20%)

Lead the development and execution of the association’s annual plan with a cross‑functional team to deliver against the strategic plan and achieve the organizational objectives and goals

Oversee the annual calendar and lead quarterly meetings to revise the plan to meet organizational, membership and revenue goals Contribute to revenue growth through programs that support member retention and new membership, as well as deliver against event and program targets

Miscellaneous Position Information Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

A minimum of 10 years’ experience in marketing with progressive responsibility at a successful enterprise

Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, or relevant field

Strong business acumen and innovative thinker with a track record for translating strategic thinking into actions

Thorough knowledge of marketing principles, events and activation, digital marketing, brand management, and B2B product launches and integrated marketing efforts including content and digital marketing leveraging behavioral targeting techniques

Experience with demand generation marketing in a B2B environment to deliver revenue targets (journey building, SEM, SEO, media, tradeshow and webinar events, drip and lead generation, sales conversion)

Highly collaborative and agile leader while self‑reliant, problem solver and results driven

Experience developing marketing professionals and leading cross‑functional teams

Ability to multi‑task, handle pressure and lead team to meet deadlines.

Experience using research, analytics and data for long‑term strategy and real‑time campaigns

Knowledge of project management and stellar organizational skills

Solid skills, including MS Office, and various marketing software and applications

Familiarity with (salesforce) CRM, AMS and CMS as well as Google Analytics

Comprehensive understanding of print, digital, and emerging media, with a demonstrated record of developing revenue‑producing marketing initiatives, sales tools and other external‑facing collateral

Outstanding oral and written communication, presentation and leadership skills; strong interpersonal and collaborative skills; ability to interface with a variety of audiences, both internal and external, including association members and partners

Measures for Success

Proven track record of consistently delivering results in a dynamic environment with multiple stakeholders

Global membership organizations, association, or foundation experience a plus

Outstanding strategic planning and analysis skills

Demonstrated ability to manage outsourced marketing activities (e.g. freelance vendors and agencies)

Strong leadership skills and proven track record of leading and coaching high‑performing teams

Ability to work within cross‑functional teams to create a results‑driven, team‑oriented environment; demonstrated ability to managed interests of internal and external stakeholders

Achieve the organizational objectives and goals

Able to move between the execution details to deliver best‑in‑class work influenced by data while flexing a strategic muscle and stellar business acumen to lead the association’s annual plan and execution.

Travel Business related travel required on average 5 times per year.
