Responsibilities

Research and report on assigned topics and issues

Write stories according to editorial style and format standards for all publishing platforms

Produce video to accompany stories, including on-camera standups and voice-over narration for digital platforms and statewide broadcast

Drive audience loyalty and digital growth through engaging and timely content

Develop unique story ideas and content that increase reader engagement

Respond with urgency to breaking news, producing stories and visuals on deadline with a digital audience in mind

Collaborate with digital teams and use available tools and technology to gain insight into story metrics and content performance

Embrace a creative, collaborative approach with newsroom colleagues and other FCC departments and locations

Share and promote digital content through social media channels

Qualifications

Journalism or communications degree helpful, though equivalent experience will be considered

Writing experience for a newspaper, website, magazine, or specialty publication required

Experience using digital analytics and social media tools preferred

Basic knowledge of video and photo editing preferred

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

A strong sense of purpose and urgency for the news

Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

Ability to work quickly and accurately, using a web-based content management system

Must be creative, hardworking, and a self-starter

Expected compensation for this role is between $19.23 and $21.63/hour, based on qualifications and experience.
